Reflux/pyloric stenosis?

Baby is 6 weeks old and very refluxy. My first had (still has, in fact) CMPA and egg allergy BUT I don't think it's that in my second as she's such a content baby otherwise, has perfect skin.
She's stacking on weight brilliantly, seems healthy and well, and has a good nappy output.
But her reflux is often projectile! Not feet across the room but definitely pops out of the mouth with some force, not just falling out. Sometimes it comes out of her nose.
Due to having a very difficult first year with my first, in and out of hospital, I do get anxiously easily and I've come across this thing pyloric stenosis. I don't really think it can be that as it's not all feeds coming up and it's not always projectile, but on the other hand there is a lot of sick.
Can she just be a "happy chuckle" if the reflux is forceful.
Also worth adding I'm breastfeeding with a very strong let down so she may he accidentally over eating and then throwing it up as the volume is just too much

That should say "happy chucker" obviously

I don't know what I'm asking really. Just am I being an over anxious parent again?

Some babies just always return a portion of their dinner. 🤷🏼‍♀️

So is it ending up a couple of inches from the face normal? Or can be normal?

I would say it’s very unlikely to be pyeloric stenosis as babies do not gain weight with that. They vomit every feed. There are always exceptions to the rules though so if you’re worried then get her checked out but sounds much more like reflux to me.

My first has pyloric stenosis.I was told it was reflux (but we had a strong family history of it).

He didn't lose weight, he took full bottles form a few weeks old. He was starving all the time.

When I fed him I wrapped him and me in bath sheets and we still both got soaked. Honestly I trusted the midwife when she told he is was "just" reflux and I was just being over anxious. It was when we went to visit my parents several hundred miles away and everyone who visited were shocked at how much he was sick. My mum called her GP who sent us to hospital.

The MW had just put us on gavision and that really made things so much worse. He lost an over entire pound in 3 days. He was 6 weeks at this point and he was so sick (he had no idea) he has to be built back up before he could have surgery.

Doctors where my parents were called up furious at the midwife and doctors up there as the mw had actually written it was just reflux and I was over anxious in my notes. I wasn't anxious at all,I assumed it was normal and everyone I spoke with just said their child was the same.

It was the sheer volume he was bring back. He was taking a full bottle and every 2/3 hours, so he was getting something from it but more than 2/3 he brought back up. He is now 11 and fine.

Sounds like my daughter - happy spitter but vomited constantly and could reach a good distance. It never bothered her and she gained weight like a champ. I also had a strong milk flow and fast letdown which I think contributed. She grew out of it on her own about 7 months and is absolutely fine - but I still remember the days where I had about 50 muslins and was constantly covered in regurgitated milk. Hang in there - as long as your baby seems ok, it should pass soon! Xx

Thanks everyone - this has calmed my nerves a bit. She's putting on good weight (following 75th centile now after being born on the 25th) and is content between feeds, not constantly starving. And it's not every feed that comes up - just when it does it seems to arrive with some force!
I've bought extra muslins....

My gs had pyloric stenosis which was picked up at 3 weeks old. Only because I sat in the doctors and said this didn't seem like normal baby reflux. He had been projectile vomiting in the night and had been like that for a few days. The doctor was very reluctant to send us to the local children's hospital but he did and as soon as we was there dgs projectile vomited on the doctor there and he was sent for an xray which confirmed it. A simple operation sorted him out and hes been totally fine ever since. He's 5 years old now. Might be worth mentioning it to the doctor xx

Just to add my dgs didn't loose any weight before or after. Sometimes wasn't projectile but was usually all the time he had a bottle xx

My lo has reflux and I have a fast letdown, we have had a couple of appointments with the infant feeding team to help us work out if the reflux was as a result of my fast letdown.
In our case it probably isn't but she is responding well to treatment with omperazole. She's always followed her growth curve despite the sickness, the omperazole has turned her from an unhappy spitter to a mostly contented spitter.

As we didn't have slow weight gain out triggers for treating the reflux was her refusing feeds and screaming through feeds, being very unhappy lying down especially during nappy changes (lots of purple crying from me and baby!) and when sleeping and being sick most feeds and being upset by it.

I spoke to our hv about it first and she said to phone the gp for a gaviscon prescription. We tried that for 2-3 weeks, it helped a little but we couldn't give her more than 3 sachets a day because of it making her constipated. We were switched to omperazole and since we have been on the 1.4mg/kg dose she has been much more contented although she's still unhappy when feeding and quite sick

Thanks @WingingItSince1973 - I will see how we get on this week and will call the GP if I'm still concerned. She's only spat up small amounts today and not after every feed and given she's almost 7 weeks I'm thinking it's probably just regular reflux. But I'm keeping a close eye on it

Thanks @Superscientist - have you looked into cow's milk allergy. Your baby sounds just like my first. She had all these symptoms and I was dismissed time after time as an anxious new mum to a precious first born. We were prescribed ranitidine which did help (it's no longer licensed I don't think), but then when it came to weaning she had extreme reactions to dairy (head to toe hives, eczema causing peeling skin). Having survived months of colic, screaming and distressing feeds, it was horrible to realise it could have all been avoided if I'd been listened to. She's still dairy free now and we carry an epi pen for egg.
My new daughter chucks up constantly but is so happy. She's barely cried apart from changing clothes and the odd nappy in the last seven weeks!

I have read about it, I will ask my gp next review, I'm keep try to keep a note of dairy intake and reduce it but I don't always remember. I'm restarting it this week I had pizza followed by half a tub of Ben and Jerry's at the weekend and she has had more reflux since but she is also due a weight adjustment for the omperazole. it is such a minefield!!

It took us a while to get the reflux diagnosed and treated as she started with silent reflux it was when she started being sick with all the other issues we were having that they agreed with us that it was reflux that warranted treatment

Good luck! I hope your little one stays a content spitter!
