well ds is very sensible so he has helped cut vegetables under strict supervision of course

I'm not sure I'd let a lot of his friends do the same thing

I let my then 3 year old cut mushrooms with a serrated vegetable knife. Was standing right there, and it'#s not very sharp - plus, he had very good manual dexterity at that age - more like a five year olds.

DS1 - 6
DS2 - 3
DD - 2.5
Don't recommend the two year old though - she made me a sandwich the other day, mushroom cucumber and chilli powder.
They can all use a potato peeler as well , DS2 is very useful at peeling and loves doing it (he's 4 now) and DS1 can put an edge on a chef's knife with a steel (he's 8). I stand right at the side of the younger ones and remind them about holding stuff properly and keeping fingers out of the way, and none of them can reach the knives ( on a magnet in the one place only I can reach)

The dds were 3 and 4.
Ds is not two yet, but when he wants to help, I will let him.
