Keeping baby warm enough at night

My 9 month old has started waking up in the night and she feels a bit cool. She wears a long sleeved vest, sleepsuit and 2.5 tog sleeping bag to bed, and her room is kept at 18 degrees. I'm not sure how to add any warmth without turning up the heating or using a thicker sleeping bag, but then I'm worried she will overheat! The 3 tog+ bags I looked at say they are really for cold climates! I don't want to use blankets as she'd end up tangled in them. Any ideas?

A cardigan or a fleece sleep suit. Put hat on her. Fold a fleece blanket up underneath her (you can tuck it round the mattress like a sheet) as it’s like that old girl guide saying “one underneath is worth two on top”.
I use blankets-and they get a bit scrummaged up and she sleeps on a sheepskin but it keeps her warm. There’s no heating on at night though.

Don't put a hat on her inside.
Could you try thicker, fleecey sleepsuits or PJ's. Dd has a few from Primark that are thicker and warmer than the usual ones.

Neither of my children have slept comfortablely at the recommended temp. They've always been cold and needed thicker clothing or some heating on.

In winter I have put the heating on. My LB's room is usually at around 22 degrees on the grow egg and he has a vest, long sleeve pyjamas and a 1.5 tog sleeping bag. He never feels cold in that. Personally I wouldn't put a hat on your little one as I think they would definately overheat.

Don't put a hat on! Maybe build up slowly as you don't actually know they are waking from cold. I agree about the fleece blanket underneath. Also check for drafts, we moved the bed from one side to another after we found a colder spot.

Her hands, but sometimes her cheeks as well.

Its fine for hands and cheeks to be cold as long as her body is warm.

And definitely do not use a hat

Extremities are ok to be cold, you need to feel her chest or back to know if she is actually cold

Don't worry about cooler hands/face, check her chest. As long as that is warm.

Mine had disturbed sleep during periods where they were going through a bit of a developmental leap (crawling/standing etc). Also, it could be that she is having a bit of a growth spurt so may need more milk.
