2 months, colic or reflux?

My LO is 2 months old, 8.5weeks now and is still suffering very unsettled symptoms. Not sure if could be colic or silent reflux. She often hiccups, coughs after feeding, gags as refuses dummgs or bottles, swallow randomly and pulls a face like she's tasting something horrible, cries insessantly after only being awake for 1 hour, cries also from when she wakes after her nap at 5.30pm until bedtime apart from when in the bath. She is breastfed though constantly umming and ahhing over trying to switch to bottles but don't want to make matters worse. She burps well after feeds, isn't constipated, is happy nd smiley after sleeps even when lying on back, is fine at night though I have slightly raised one end of her crib. She is very fussy feeding in the day, and refuses her bedtime feed due to so much crying. My eldest had bad colic but his vanished at 8nweeks and things helped him like tummy massage which have no effect on my daughter. Doctor says sounds like could be silent reflux but apart from baby gaviscon which we've tried and is a nightmare to get down a breastfed baby plus just makes her constipated, there's not much they can give as renitidine or whatever it's called they can't get at the moment?! What do others think it sounds like or is it just a normal 2 month old? Did yours experience similar? If so when did it end? I remember it being overnight with ds so was hoping for the same but no sign of it stopping yet

Oh op my dd was awful and she was bottle fed, I had gaviscon & renitidine but by the time I got seen at the hospital she was 6mo and only had the renitidine for a few weeks and stopped anyway as she went onto foods earlier to help lol

Could it be a possible tounge tie, my friends dd had one very far back that wasn't recognised on the nhs so she had to go private. Since she did that she's been great since, they suggested colic etc, problem was only solved at 6mo!!

Also I'd just go a and e if you're able to, they have a very large pharmacy so if you say she's really bad and your waiting on renitidine and can't get hold of it they could dispense some maybe ? Iv done this before with ds.

Hope your okay op because I know it's really bloody hard not been able to settle them an keep them happy when your doing all you can , I got pnd from dd been so bad :(
My heart goes out to you all xx

Have you tried cutting dairy out of your diet? Everything you've described sounds exactly like my DD (now 19 weeks) and it turned out she had a cow's milk allergy. So we swapped her milk (she's bottle fed) and she was like a different baby - much more settled and happy! Might be worth a shot just as an experiment?

Thank you, she's been checked for tongue tie and defo not that, she's always latched well too. Thanks for the advice tho spidermomma.
Good thought re dairy bunty, I had a sensitivity to it when I was little but in the way of giving me eczema, since having my daughter my eczema has come out again so maybe it is telling me to cut the dairy. I'll give it a go. What formula did you get out of interest for when we do go down the bottle route? Is it on prescription?

She's now on Aptamil Pepti 1 and yes, we get it prescribed. You can buy it online but it's over £30 a tub!

My gp prescribed omperazole for reflux when we didn't want to increase the gaviscon dose due to constipation. We have only noticed a difference after the dose increased. She's now a much more contented baby but we still struggle with screaming during some feeds.

We have had a couple of appointments with the infant feeding team too assess our feeding as our health visitors noticed I had a fast flow and this can cause similar symptoms to reflux. We do more laid back feeds but the best way to feed her when she is screaming is face to face lying down. We have a bit of a cuddle first to calm her down, the other week she was particularly upset so we gave her a bath and then we had a skin to skin feed lying on the bathroom floor with us both wrapped up in a towel! It was madness but it worked!
