Hello mums

I'm a first time mum so every new thing makes me query myself
So over the past week my little girl has started to get really vocal not the usual coos etc but full on high pitched screams.

She doesn't cry it doesn't end in tears she just likes it!
Please tell me this is normal.

Sorry if this is a crazy question

Jane

My ds has just started doing this!!😂😂it's awful isn't it, we have constant headache! They're just learning to use their voice and communicate I think

@helloitsme4432 omg it's crazy.
I know it's not pain or anything making her scream it's just gone from baby babble to full on screaming

My son did this, although it was more a very loud shout. Hes 8 months now and still does it!

It's perfectly normal, and entirely hideous!! It can last for months...

FurrySlipperBoots · 17/11/2020 21:01

Try not to react when she does it! If you respond with trying to quieten her or get annoyed, it'll turn into a game.

Pipandmum · 17/11/2020 21:05

She is finding the different sounds she can make and is pleased with herself! If you ignore it she will move on to another sound.

Findahouse21 · 17/11/2020 21:10

Yes, normal but bloody awful while it lasts. Dd always did it when her mouth was very close to my ear

BelBabe · 17/11/2020 21:32

Yup my DD developed this banshee screech around the same as the 4 month sleep regression...it was tough going.
She's five months now and her new favourite sound is almost like a growl. It's very funny

Janeyleanne · 18/11/2020 06:23

Thanks ladies. I'm hoping it's a quick phase lol.

My baby does this, occasionally one is very loud and my instinct is to cover my ears but I try not to react negatively. To be honest most of the time I mimic whatever sounds she makes and she loves it, we both end up laughing! It makes my dog go crazy though 🤣
