FML eye drops. Is it safe for babies.

After the 5 day course of antibiotics the opthalmologist suggested for my 9 months babies pink eyes, baby was completely fine.
However he kept rubbing his eyes . Which again caused some pinkness.
I called up the opthalmologist and she prescribed FML (fluorometholone) eye drops. She said it's specifically for babies. And put twice a day for 7 days, extend to 3 more days if required.
However I googled this I was shocked to find this eye drops can also cause cataract and glaucoma when used in excess
And most online sites recommend it only for babies more than 2 yrs age.
Now I am in a fix. My opthalmologist recommended it but online scares me.

Phone back to the opthamologists office and ask.

If it's medically prescribed that probably overrides Google. Google info is for idiots that want to use their adult prescription or something OTC to medicate their child rather than seeking proper advice.

@BertieBotts, the doc did emphasize in the call that its very mild (0.1% solution) and also "for kids only" .
However when I checked online it said the drops are for kids greater than 2 yrs of age , so I am shocked how come its ok for a 9 month old.
and the packaging itself said "indiscriminate and prolonged use may lead to glaucoma, cataract or fungal infections"
So that scared the crrap out of me. And I can't use it
I don't know what to do . I used it only once dose on my baby.

This is not indiscriminate or prolonged use, it's been prescribed

Stop googling and trust the opthamologist's medical training.

You're only using it for a short period, not in an indiscriminate or prolonged way.
