Do I need to take dd to the doctor about this?

dd is 3.2 - has been potty training since about January, and in pants since July (before that she was generally in skirts and no pants at home). She has always produced a lot of wee, as a baby her nappies were always sodden in a short time. She needs to wee more or less every half hour so it makes car journies and going out very hard. She has been having more or less one accident a day which was not too bad. She still wears a nappy at night and in the morning it is very heavy.

In the last week or so she has become much much worse - constant wet pants. she says that she is playing and it 'just comes out' - I asked her if she knew she needed a wee and she said she didn't. We are getting through so many pairs of pants and trousers every day and she is getting sore as she is always wet.

My mum says I need to put her back into nappies which I really don't want to do as she will quite happily wee in them all day - she wakes in the morning and happily poos in her nappy rather than taking it off and going to toilet.

I am worried that if this is stress related then taking her to the Doctors might upset her even more - she has recently started pre-school and also unfortunately is under quite a lot of stress for someone so small as her little sister who is 18 months is disabled and takes up all my time and energy.

What do you think? are there any physical reasons that it could be? She is such a lovely little thing and I just want her to be dry and comfortable like all her friends.

could be a uti, can you get your gp to send off a sample without seeing her if you think that the visit may upset her?

yes take to Dr to get an infection ruled out

infections not treated can lead to severe kidney problems (One if my friends only has 1 kidney due to urine infection as a child, it messed ehr kidney up so much it had to be removed)

Thank you, I will make an appointment as soon as I can (dreading the front line of the receptionist I have to fight past to get an appointment. (is it an emergency? no, otherwise I would have called an ambulance.)
