Fungal nappy rash in 3 week old

So my baby has fungal nappy rash and is in agony every time she poos or we clean her :(

The doctor has prescribed us canestan cream with hydrocortisone in it, put hasn't given instructions on how and when to apply it.

Do I apply it every time I change her nappy?

I give her nappy free time a couple of times a day when she's awake, should I air her bum out, apply the cream then put the nappy on straight after? Or should I let the cream sit on her bum for a bit and 'dry in' before putting on her nappy?

Any other advise for fungal nappy rash would be most welcome!

Try changing nappies.
My child years ago had red raw bum, turned out certain nappies effect certain babies.

Is it thrush? Is she having oral treatment too? Are you bf or ff? If bf then you need to treat your nipples. Make sure anything her bum has been in contact with is hot washed and if you are bf that applies to your towels and bras too. Obviously you need to super hot on hand washing but I imagine with a little baby you will be anyway.

If you are using Asda own brand or their wipes we find these give DD the worst nappy rash ever, to the point her skin would bleed.

I’d as a pp said look at changing the brand

Hi OP we had the same thing on our little one and we used the cream once in morning and evening (nappy on straight after) and had nappy free time when possible on a towel on floor. It cleared up pretty fast after being red and aggravated and back to normal self

No it's not thrush just a fungal infection
