Do toddlers potty train sooner in cloth nappies.

Title says it all really.

I've heard some mums say the child feels wetness better in cloth nappies and usually train sooner, what do you think?

Is later training of toddlers encouraged by the makers of modern disposables and pullups just a ploy to get us to buy nappies for longer?

Ds refused to uses potty until nearly 3 - he liked cool cloth nappies and choosing the colour, didn't want to do anything himself. We had to practise him pulling down trousers as that was a hurdle for a while. But once hee was bribed to sit on a potty long enough, there was hardly an accident ever.

DD wanted to train shortly after 2 but wasn't ready, but at 2.5 managed it easily.

There used to be a lot more toilet timing and toddlers taken to the potty every hour or so - that's not trained!

Depends on the child and how driven you are to getting them out of nappies. Everyone I know who has potty trained between 12 - 24 months has used disposable nappies. You still need to do it in stages. And Your child needs to be able to tell you that he or she wants to poo - some kids can do that from 10 months by signing or saying a word before pooing but many don’t recognise the signs until they’re actually doing it and won’t until they’re 2-3 which is fine.

I actually think nappy pants are largely to blame for later potty training, not actual nappies.

Honestly think it’s child dependent. We did not use cloth but have twins. One potty trained by 2yr3 months (literally only wet herself max 3 times after this), the other twin was 2yr10 months before potty trained. He could not not have nappies at 2yr3 months unless we dealt with multiple accidents a day (we tried).
Maybe some people put off potty training as it’s so easy with disposables but children are for sure all different.

Yea, I think pullups may be part of the problem, it seems to me they are nothing more than an easy to use nappy.

Nowadays I'd rather use a proper nappy or nothing at all.
