Teething/drool rash

My daughter is suffering from quite bad teething rash, that is spread all around her mouth... I am patting it clean with a cotton pad with just warm water on and then putting it dry and also putting some Vaseline on as a barrier but it just seems to be getting worse, is there any creams specifically for teething rash? Would sudocreme be okay ?

The rash caused by saliva is mostly there because the saliva dries out the skin. Vaseline isn’t moisturising - it acts as a barrier so no moisture can get in or out. In an already dry area this can make it worse.

Some people swear by sudocrem for these rashes (it can sting a little). I’d try to get some Aveeno baby moisturiser if the sudocrem doesn’t work, can’t remember what it’s called but it’ll be in the baby aisle. Or ask a pharmacist.

We were recommended vaseline for drool rash around DS' neck - it just made it worse!

I think we used sudocrem but it was the nappy ointment version not the usual grey pot. Different consistency and less chalky. Might be worth trying?
