Help me choose some cloth nappies please

I have a six month old son and have decided to change to cloth.
I have been using Little Lambs and Motherease today both of which were fine although I didn't really like the Motherase airflow wrap with the poppers on. I would prefer an aplix wrap.

I am looking for a nappy that is not as bulky and that will dry very easily. My DS is 15Lbs+

Advice please????

Hey Luce. For quick dring you can't beat the Bambinex Teddy imo. Very cute too

Bamboo takes ages to dry so try and avoid that.

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 21:04

Thanks Norma, what wrap would go with that?

Oh god, don't mention wraps. Avoid nature babies cos mine ar eleaking through the wrap! (and I'm not the only one that's had that problem)

I'd go with octo's advice - motherease rikki or one-life

Tho I could try and convert you to using wool

I really like totsbots. I prefer nippa nappies with popper wraps. Motherease sandys are great too.

Rumpel · 15/10/2007 21:08

Sorry meant nappy nippas!

oooggs · 15/10/2007 21:15

hi Luce - well done changing to cloth - v. impressed

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 21:18

Hiya Oooggs, are you ok?

mothereease do a riki wrap with aplix fastening. Nature babies do too - i havent heard of a leaking nature babies problem so am interested to hear about that as my boy has just grown out my motherease and im finding the nature babaies wrap really good and comparable. Bambinex teddy and fluffle are quick drying and very alike. Bambo nappies do take a long time to dry as per nutty. Bimbles and bumbles are not bamboo but terry with fleece lining and are very good. Thats as much as i know about two parters as flames the two parter expert - quick drying advice from me - if none of the above suits give a pocket nappy a whirl - you may be pleasantly suprosed - they are fab!! All of the ones i mentioned can be seen on my or anyone elses website which can all be reached via the small busineess ads in the classified section.

although bulky, you can't beat tots bots IMHO. They contain anything your child can throw at it and with a tots wrap or motherease rikki wrap work like a dream.

Also have bamboozles which are a slimmer fit very absorbant, but take ages to dry.

Make sure you use a fleece liner with tots.

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 21:39

Thankyou

I am finding this mind boggling!

Don't worry, you'll soon be addicted

oooggs · 15/10/2007 21:54

I'm ok thanks luce - finding this parenting lark really hard at the moment. Bedtimes have been a nightmare, although tonight was good. 3 on my own in the evening is vert testing and I am starting to dread the end of the day.

good luck with reusables

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 22:11

You are doing such a good job Oooggs but it is totally exhausting especially with your dh on shifts. Thinking of you x

Ok, I have decided that I would like a bamboo two part nappy system (I think ).
Do I need separate boosters/inserts for the Tots Bots nappies???

OP posts:
Gingerbear · 15/10/2007 22:20

tots have a sewn in booster - a fleece liner helps stop the towelling from staining and wicks moisture away from bums.

bamboo takes ages to dry though.

Why not get a trial from the nappy lady to see how you get on?

Oh, and poppered wraps are better as your baby gets older and starts to undo aplix with ease!

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 22:29

Thankyou Gingerbear I hadn't even thought of that.

What size do I need to order? DS is in 4+ dispies at the moment?

OP posts:
liahgen · 15/10/2007 22:38

IMO you might get few weeks out of a sz 1 but probably better to go for sz 2 now.

I used nature babies wraps for 5mths no probs, lo grown out of them now.

Popper wraps give good airflo I find for night time, like to think of lo skin breathing all night, bless me. lol

Try out couple pre loved if you can, make sure you happy with your choice.

Gingerbear · 15/10/2007 22:54

Size 2 I reckon.

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 23:16

Have been having a good look and really like the BumGenius one size nappies. Anyone used these ones?

OP posts:
liahgen · 15/10/2007 23:26

No but have just ordered one of these for my shop so as soon as i've tried it will let you know how I find it. Mind you, you'll prob have bought your own by then, lol. x

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 23:38

Have just ordered some bumgenius

OP posts:
liahgen · 15/10/2007 23:41

ooh let me know how ou get on with it then, lol
Where you get it from if you don't mind me asking?

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 23:42

I ordered them from Nappyzone

v. excited now

OP posts:
liahgen · 15/10/2007 23:48

lol. You have been warned , this cloth nappy lark does not save you as much money as the advertising suggests, ... due to their being so many fab ones to choose from. We just keep buying.
I've now discovered a love of wool wraps, god, more expense, sooo cute.

Lucewitch · 15/10/2007 23:57

That is one of the reasons that I wanted an all in one/one size otherwise its a minefield out there with nappies/wraps/boosters etc etc etc......
