Nappy rash and green mucus

I feel like I'm being fobbed off by the doctors! Baby girl is 18 days old and has horrible nappy rash around her bum and bum hole. I've been putting on metanium as suggested by the docs but it just looks like it's getting worse. Trying to give her as much nappy free time without interupting her sleep (hard when she sleeps all the time!)

But now it looks like she has strings of green mucus in her poo :(

She HATES when I change her nappy I feel like she screams in pain

Has anyone else experienced this with their babies? I'm currently waiting for the GP to call me back again. I know metanium is supposed to be a miracle cream but I honestly think her rash is getting worse

It could be a temporary lactose intolerance caused by an upset stomach. Or it could be cows milk protein allergy. How long has it been going on for? Formula or breastmilk? My baby had temp lactose intolerance caused by cows milk protein allergy. I was breastfeeding so had to remove all dairy from my diet.

For the rash try and get some cavilon. Is the skin broken? If so use cavilon spray. If the skin is not broken then cavilon cream is good and less of a faff. Is it yellow metanium you’re using? I found this effective with a layer of bepanthen on top to stop it coming off. But when the rash was very bad it was cavilon that worked.

@Tomatoandbasil I'm actually vegan and breastfeeding but we were giving her one bottle of formula at night to settle her. I didn't give her the formula last night and I'll lay off incase it is a cows milk allergy

But I wouldn't have thought one bottle a night would make a big difference? Even then she only drinks two ounces

My baby reacted to even tiny traces of dairy.

I hope the rash clears up soon.

I used weleda nappy cream on DD. She's three months now and in reusable nappies with no nappy rash, but she was prone to it in the early weeks when we used disposables. Before we fully transitioned to reusables I found putting fleece liners in disposable nappies and smothering her in weleda really helped. I washed the fleece liners and reused them, but they kept her skin super dry and obviously stopped the disposable with it's chemicals being against her skin which I think was aggravating the rash once it was there.

50% of babies with CMPA are also allergic to soya. I would consider removing soya from your diet for 6 weeks to see if their is an improvement.

Second soya idea, cut for 2 weeks. pita if you're vegan. Make sure u get calcium from additional sources, apricots, figs and chia are high. Try not to cut too many things at once. Some ppl report caffeine causes problems but i needed this to function and couldnt cut out. Funnily enough my eldest had cows milk allergy, but me having dairy never seemed to cause too many issues, however me eating eggs and peanuts did cause problems, bad tummy and rashes. Personally, i'd keep a food diary. Do you have a fast let down? It can really mess with their tummies? Do they have tongue tie? How is their latch?
