SarahF2019 · 26/10/2020 13:39

I have a 2 month old "rainbow" baby.
I also have:
Dry cough, slightly tight chest, high temp despite feeling like an ice block! Cant stop wheezing and shaking, had a temp of 39.1 middle of night. Now its 37.9... then it was 38.5 a bit later.

Jesus help me. My baby has no temp. My husband has no temp.
What do i do??? Im expressing milk and i cant stay away from my baby! 😭😭😭😭

Your baby will be fine and so will you. Baby might not even show symptoms. I believe the office advice is to carry on as normal, and obviously get a test and isolate at home . Hope you feel better soon.

I have been told by gp here that current advice is to continue breastfeeding/ expressing as if you do have Covid you will help pass antibodies on to baby which will help them.
Try wearing a mask whilst feeding baby the next few days whilst you see whether it goes or not, and letting husband take over baby care otherwise as precaution

I had covid while breastfeeding. Keep feeding and if you can let baby feed directly from you. It will help you to pass on the antibodies you make to baby. This will in turn both protect her and mean she has your immune response to the illness.

Get a test and isolate as a family. Your partner should take over as much of the household / other baby care stuff to give you time to rest

Had covid back in March and still co-slept and was close and cuddly with my now 2 year old DS. He was absolutely fine for what it's worth, I think he did have it too as he had a slight cough but no temp or anything as was his happy little self. Children and babies are much less effected statistically by covid. Hope this reassures you. Make sure you get some rest

The CDC advise to continue to bf. It’s likely that whatever you have your baby already have been exposed to and your body will produce additional antibodies in your milk if it detects your baby needs them - your body will only be able to detect this if your baby feeds directly from your nipples.
