Should I give toddler en-suite room

Starting to think about moving the toddler‘s bedroom in preparation for the arrival of the new baby. We currently have two spare rooms, planning to put new baby in current nursery and move toddler into one of the spares.

The largest spare has an en-suite and I was going to put toddler in there for space however my DH is worried they would mess about with shower/taps/loo in the night. Would you trust your toddler in a room with an en-suite and do you think it’d be beneficial (easy night loo trips/teeth brushing) or a PITA?

If we move them into smaller spare we’ll have to do musical rooms again when it comes to new baby going into a room so eldest then gets en-suite. Seems daft saving biggest room for guests use 2 times a year. Long term nursery will get changed into a spare/office with a day bed.

Can you just put a lock on the outside of the en-suite door, high up if you are worried about the toddler messing with the bathroom?

Could you put a hook lock on the en-suite with the lock being high up and on the room side for the time being where he’s possibly too young and would misuse the en-suite?

I'd put a lock on the outside of the door high up

Only if you lock the door

I have a 2 yo and a 3 yo and I've lost count of the amount of times they've snuck upstairs and played with the taps! Musical rooms is far better than frequent mini floods!

One of my friends had her young DD's sharing a room with an en suite. She put a unit against the door so it could not be accessed while they were so young because of both mess and possible safety issues. Once they are older she will let them use it.

Hmm maybe DH is right about this one then!
