Period pants for DD (10)

10 year old DD has been “developing” for a couple of years. I anticipate her starting her periods within the next 6-8 months and would rather start her off with washable period pants. Has anyone got any experience/recommendations for brands? They mostly seem to be focussed around teenagers and adult women rather than tweens. Confused

Not sure if it helps but cheeky wipes do a little kit that’s aimed at like first periods. No experience of their period pants but I use their reusable baby wipes and make up wipes they are really good. Also the nappy lady just launched a site called the period lady for reusable sanitary products which might be useful.

I really love Modibodi. I don't know what sizes they do for younger girls, but they are brilliant.

We bought a few pairs of the Modibodi Red range for my 12 year old, nice prints and colours. She likes the 'shorts' style. They do different sizes too.

Fab. Thanks.

Been looking at cheeky wipes and modibodi as it happens!

How many did you get? We don’t do washing every day so don’t want too few.

We bought 4 pairs, to be on the safe side in case she ever needed more than one pair in a day! But at the moment they are in the cupboard as she hasn't actually started yet - I just wanted us to be prepared Smile

Thanks so much. I think I’ve blanked out my experience so feeling a bit overwhelmed!

We have a pair of modibodi's ready to go too. I had a hysterectomy years ago so I can't test period pants but they do seem really soft and robust. I do hope they work when she needs them.

I use PP for my Dd who is now 13 and started her periods last year.
She has ASD so I was quite worried but she's coped really well.

I bought 4 pairs of black ones from Sainsbury's.
She wears them for 2/3 weeks each month as it takes a while for periods to settle into a routine and that way she's no worries at all.
It takes a while for them to dry (can't tumble due to fabric) so we always have plenty to hand and spares too as I don't think 1 a day is enough if the flow is not extremely light. I also bought some more expensive ones (I think they were modibodi) but no difference in quality. She also uses a pad sometimes but PPs are really great imo.

I have quite a few pairs for myself as I wash them separately. You can't use fabric softener and they need to be washed at 30 so i just wait until I have 3/4 used pairs and wash them by themselves. They do take a while to dry.
