when they see their dad bringing the bikes across rom his brothers house...non too quiety as he was pissed. so around 9 or 10 then

CristinaTheAstonishing · 14/10/2007 22:18

I see a pattern here with pissed dads and Xmas

My DS was about 8. DD is 10 and in year 5, shows no signs of the penny dropping. My DS said to me "it's ok to keep it going for now Mum, but please promise me you won't let her go to (our)grammar school still believing in Santa." Apparently, there are children well into secondary who still believe, and all their peers are dead embarrassed for them.

My nephew started secondary school in Sept & my sister asked him if he still believed in FC. He said yes.. so she had to tell him the truth.

But he is an extremely niave young man...

My niece stopped believing in primary 6!

hennipenni · 15/10/2007 21:24

When, at the age of 5 (last year) their best friend tells them they're childish to beleive.

hennipenni · 15/10/2007 21:25

Believe

MaureenMLove · 15/10/2007 21:29

I think my dd is playing along for my benefit now tbh! She's 12! Bless her, I did tell her a while back that only children that believe get presents, the rest get a bag of coal! I still do all the magic things though. Last year I ripped a peice of red felt and stuck it in the soot flap of the fire place, so when I asked her to shut the flap because FC had been, she found it! I don't quite know how to top that this year though!

yes it was me who got told off for this thread title last year

which considering it was nestling alongside thread titles about oral sex and domestic abuse was a bit fecking rich I thought

MilaMae · 15/10/2007 21:46

Yes have already apologised but can't edit it so sorry again-didn't think. Honestly had no idea kids frequented this site. Sorry sorry

Well I will post on here now assuming that any children who can read that well will be at school. The website is actually Norad - DS was really impressed with it last year.

Pinkchampagne · 16/10/2007 08:48

My DS started questioning it very young - I think he was 5 or 6. Don't think he believes at all now, and he's 8.
I stopped believing at 8.

ShrinkingViolet · 16/10/2007 08:51

oi, some of us Home Ed! (tis OK though as DD2 is having breakfast ).

TrickORTripletEm · 16/10/2007 08:52

What do you mean? Father christamas is still alive and well.......isn't he?

Budababe · 16/10/2007 08:56

DS still believes and he is 6. He did ask this a couple of weeks ago was Santa real. I said that I thought so and I would be afraid not to believe in case I didn't get any presents.

The Norad site is fab and there is also one where you check if child is on Santa's naughty or nice list. Did that a couple of years ago with DS and his cousins. My nephew is a very picky eater and Santa actually said he needed to eat more vegetables! The looks on their faces were fantastic!

Has OP been told off enough about thread title??

lol at CappuScreamo still peeved at being told off last year!

lomondgal · 16/10/2007 09:12

I can't remember when I stopped believing my dd is nearly 4 and fully believes, I would hope that she will beleive for a good few years yet. I suppose when she starts school she will pick up things from other kids.

AIBU to wonder why the OP has been slammed for her thread title? Why are peoples kids being allowed to see what is on the screen anyway? There are things on here that are very unsuitable for the kind of age that are able to read but still believe in santa!

UnquietDad · 16/10/2007 09:17

Joke:

A father asked his 10-year old son if he knew about the birds and the bees.

'I don't want to know,' the child said, bursting into tears. 'Promise me you
won't tell me.'

Confused, the father asked what was wrong.
The boy sobbed, 'When I was six, I got the 'There's no Easter Bunny' speech.
At seven, I got the 'There's no Tooth Fairy' speech.
When I was eight, you hit me with the 'There's no Santa' speech.

If you're going to tell me that grown-ups don't really get laid, I'll have nothing left to live for.'

Budababe · 16/10/2007 09:54

lol UQD!!!

CristinaTheAstonishing · 16/10/2007 21:54

Good one, UQD.

DottydotsofBloodOnTheFloor · 16/10/2007 21:56

ds1 is 5 (6 in December) and told dp and I last week that although he doesn't think it's us, he's not sure it's father christmas either. His face was doing this

EmsMum · 16/10/2007 22:44

my DD was showing signs of scepticism at 5 and definitely didn't believe it at 6.

at 5 she had worked out a logical explanation for why the santa at the garden centre was different to the one in the park.
There was only one real Santa at a time, who did the xmas night job - the ones in the grottos were retired ones from previous years.

Reallytired · 16/10/2007 23:19

My son is very sceptical at 5. He asked me outright and I told him the truth and he was absolutely fine with it as I told him he would still get presents.

corblimeycharlie · 16/10/2007 23:27

Last year DD was wavering in her belief but the NODIC website changed everything. We started tracking Santa in Australia at midday and when he got close to Europe she was desperate to go to bed.
I quote "I never thought he was real but he really really is and I'm so glad!"

And so was I .

corblimeycharlie · 16/10/2007 23:30

Sorry it's called NORAD

RosaTransylvania · 16/10/2007 23:44

DD2 is seven. She turned around last week and told me she didn't believe in FC. I told her she was taking a big risk but she is adamant. Thank God for DD3!
