Best & Worst Thing About Being a Parent

DD is adopted so the best thing for me is knowing we are giving her a better life. The worst thing at the moment is dealing with hormones kicking in. And the worry!

That's really lovely OP. Mine are young so worst thing is the 3am wake up everyday, but best thing is the comfort that they can only get from a cuddle with me

EternalOptimist7 · 19/10/2020 16:08

Anyone else?

Worst: I overthink and worry a lot (was poorly parented)

Best: the laughs. Kids are gorgeous funny things.

I have a 6.5 mo DD.

Best: when she laughs and smiles.

Worst: the sleep deprivation - without a doubt!

AriettyHomily · 19/10/2020 16:18

Worst - loss of spontaneity and sleep

Best - I love them
More than I ever though I could

Never0000 · 19/10/2020 16:21

Worst: all the judgement and misinformation going around in the word of parenting

Best: how funny the children are, how much I love to spend time with them Smile

Never0000 · 19/10/2020 16:21

And how much you grow as a person yourself

Disappointedkoala · 19/10/2020 16:45

Worst: lack of sleep
Best: the way they put their little hand in yours.

Nowifi · 19/10/2020 17:55

Worst - her behaviour

Best - the fact that she will grow up one day and won't need me so much Grin

Going through a hard time at the moment, can you tell? Grin

notanotheronepleasee · 19/10/2020 18:13

@Nowifi haha, I understand!

Tobebythesea · 19/10/2020 23:40

Worst- sleep deprivation/early morning wakings. Weekends/holidays/bank holidays are no longer a break.

Best- love like nothing I have ever experienced. Laughter every day and hugs.

Ohalrightthen · 20/10/2020 08:29

Worst - the fear

Best - literally everything else. I took my 11m DD out for lunch the other day - how is it possible that someone who can't talk can genuinely be an excellent date!?

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 20/10/2020 09:59

Worst - exhaustion, tantrums, lack of personal time and space

Best - seeing his face light up when I walk in the door. No one else is ever that genuinely happy to see me! The cuddles, the kisses, that I never knew I could love someone so hard that I thought my heart might actually burst. The humour, the smiles. There’s loads of amazing parts.

Worst is being unable to get a solid nights sleep & having to have eyes in the back of your head when they start getting on the move. Also in the worst category is when they are sick, especially as a first time mum, the worry is unlike anything else.

Best is watching them learn, and the love you feel from them when they stare into your eyes and give you a big smile.

messy123 · 07/11/2020 14:16

Worst: sleep deprivation and being woken up in the night. Also this might just be mine but lack of toilet breaks and showers in peace 😂

Best: The way they develop and the funny things that they say ...and the cuddles.

lazylinguist · 07/11/2020 14:21

Best: my children (12 and 15) are, and have always been, very good company. They are articulate, hilarious and fun to spend time with.

Worst: the constant worry about whether we are striking the right balance parenting-wise. Also the worry about what they don't tell you, especially as teens.

Cattenberg · 07/11/2020 14:27

Worst: the sleep deprivation of the newborn stage

Best: being frequently surprised by the new things she can do, funny things she says, and her random leaps of imagination
