Weaning - does this sound OK as a first food?

I will be starting my DD on solids next week as she’s now six months. I’m hoping to do a mix of baby led and traditional weaning, and was thinking of puréeing up some avocado to give her as her very first food - what do you think?

Also, what could I move on to after that - any ideas?

Thanks!

@sweetcorn6

My baby LOVES avocado. I cant get it in his mouth quick enough. If you want to give that first you can, just add in some formula/breast milk to make sure the consistancy is right.

Oh ok, that sounds good. Since starting this thread I’ve added avocado to my shopping basket, deleted it and now added it again!

Our boy is one in a couple of days and we have give him everything from carrots, apple and avocado, to salmon and spaghetti.

I’ve not read any books, I’ve just used common sense, so I’ve cut grapes up, I crush nuts, I leave spaghetti really long so he can hold it, I give him a whole apple so he is biting at it rather than taking precut chunks.

It can be nerve wracking but as you’ll see for yourself, your baby has an amazing protective gag reflex. I’ve had him bringing pieces of pasta back up after being completely swallowed.

Enjoy playing around with stuff and, if you’re anything like me, your baby will end up far healthier than you haha 😂
