What age did your DC drop their bedtime bottle?

DS is almost 18 months and always has a bottle before bed. It settles him and makes him sleepy.

I've never thought about dropping the bottle until now. I have no idea how to and I think we would struggle to get him to sleep without it as it's been his routine for ages.

Should I continue or do we need to change the routine now? I'm a FTM so don't really have experience!

My daughter has cow's milk protein allergy and her alternative yoghurts etc don't contain calcium. She wouldn't touch milk if it wasn't in a bottle. So to make sure she had enough calcium intake (and fats and minerals) we gave her a bottle before bed (with teeth done after) until she was almost 5.

Never did a milk bottle, stopped bf my oldest around 13 months then went straight to water at night. Will probably try to do similar with my second baby.

Thanks everyone. My DS won't drink milk from a sippy cup, he's really fussy 😬 how can I make the transition happen?

@whereisthejoy It’s just what I’ve been told. It’s probably like most other things - each professional has a different opinion.

I would just stop the bottle and if they don't drink it from a cup then they don't drink it
Milk isn't essential at 18 months providing their diet already contains enough calcium
