How about these
12 of each could be enough, though they do take a while to dry.

But to be honest I'd buy a couple to try out before committing to buying so many.
They are gorgeous though, so soft and yummy. The wraps are fine but I preferred Motherease.

Good luck, M x

Agree with horsemadgal. Buy one or two before buying a full set, to see if you like them. Just wondering if they would be very bulky on Callum now as he's so tiny! Might you get away with muslin squares pad-folded in a wrap?

I'm always wary about buying that many too (20 size 2 seems excessive too, by the time they are in size 2 you can usually use much less)

curlywurlycremeegg · 13/10/2007 10:04

How do you want the nappy to fasten? I would try a size two nippa Bambinex bamboo as it's can work as a birth to potty so would save you loads of money. Just try one to start with and see how you go from there

bagpuss · 13/10/2007 10:08

I would get the size one set personally and also get cotton as bamboo takes an age to dry. I have a size two LL which I found to be really good, very similar to tots bots but cheaper. You could get a trial of different ones from Flame though. She has a nice selection on her site .

tutu100 · 13/10/2007 12:19

The LL Bamboo are lovely, but they do take an age to dry so I think that's why they have twenty in their set. I would also go for the terry ones like bagpuss as they are very absorbant but don't take as long to dry. The size 1 have loose boosters so you can make the nappy less bulky for a newborn by leaving the booster out.

peskipixie · 13/10/2007 12:25

i bought several types and found i dont like the shaped nappies at all i think they are way too bulky for day use, also dont like aplix as it scratched his tum. this is just personal opinion and you see lots of 2nd hand nappies for sale because babies shape doesnt work with the nappy type. i would look on 2nd hand boards to try a few different ones before making such a big commitment. my faves are flat terries with nippa. have you asked your council if they have any incentive schemes?

nappyzone · 13/10/2007 19:40

i agree - try a few different ones before you buy a whole packet of something you might hate - it would be a shame to lose a cloth user over a costly mistake. Contact one of us advisors in the small ads and im sure most can put something together for you as a trial. My first ever was a shaped and wrap - i was going to go ahead and buy a full kit having tried it but then i got some beloved pockets and that turned my head ina whole new direction. Good luck and may the 'nappy force be with you'

nappynuttynormabutty · 13/10/2007 19:49

Definitely try a few different ones. Also try different materials too. Bamboo are lovely but take a while to dry. It's also handy to have a pocket or an All in One to take out on quick trips so you don't have to worry about possibly needing a spare wrap iyswim.

20 size 2 nappies is more than enough... I have 51 size 2s and 36 flat terries

yomellamoHelly · 13/10/2007 20:01

Why not try plain terries? The folds take a few practice runs to master but with a lo that'll only take a day to become second nature. And they're cheap.

flamefool · 13/10/2007 20:08

Should that not be 52?

nappynuttynormabutty · 13/10/2007 20:09

hehehe no, the one I've just bought from you is my Nappy Fairy one...and I've counted the one I'll be receiving!!!

flamefool · 13/10/2007 20:11

lol

I need to sort out my nappy fairy one... I dunno what to doooooooooooooo

nappynuttynormabutty · 13/10/2007 20:18

Oooh have you got someone tricky?

Flamesparrow · 13/10/2007 20:19

Just a boy, and I am baffled by boys

tassisssss · 13/10/2007 20:23

I only have 14 size 2s and that's plenty

motherease wraps may not be the prettiest/cutest, but are the best IMO

nappynuttynormabutty · 13/10/2007 20:28

pmsl Flame - you have a boy!!!

Flamesparrow · 13/10/2007 20:33

He's gone to bed in a pink fleece sleepsuit (threw a hissy fit to wear it), cuddling a doll... do I really?!

Washersaurus · 13/10/2007 20:34

OMG on thinking about it I must have WELL over 80 nappies (size 1, 2, 3 and onesize)!! I only have 2 children

sparklygothkat · 14/10/2007 14:38

have ordered a trial pack of the bamboo ones from ebay with 6 size 1 nappies, 2 wraps and boosters for £45. Will report back, when they arrive and let you how it goes

How big is Callum now sparkly?

sparklygothkat · 14/10/2007 14:46

tiny tint tiny still Chip he was weighed on friday and is 4lb 5oz, so not up to his birth weight yet. Lisad123 has some tiny wraps and nappies for me when Jasmine outgrows them (which could be soon, she is huge compared to Callum )
