Deformed ear in 3 month old

Not sure if anyone can help but I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or experience with this. My baby has had it from birth and I’m just worried it’s going to cause him problems later down the line and if there’s anything I can do.

Thanks

Looks perfectly fine to me...

The bottom ear lobe and the inner ear has like an extra bit it kind of looks like?

I really wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't of pointed it out OP.
I can't see any reason why such a minor thing would jeopardise babies hearing.

Did you ever see the CSI episode where they used an ear print instead of a fingerprint? That's how much variation there is, and it looks fine to me. My eldest has one ear markedly different to the other but I never thought anything more of it. She won't have a ponytail though now she's nearly 15.

SephrinaX · 16/10/2020 23:00

I also couldn't see what wrong until you pointed it out so I doubt cosmetically it will be much of a problem for him!
Were the hearing tests they did at birth all okay?

Sausagis · 16/10/2020 23:00

I have no idea whether this is rubbish or not... my DD2 has slightly odd ears and the midwife spotted it and made a point of checking both ears were the same - said it was only a problem if they didn't match Confused

TableFlowerss · 16/10/2020 23:02

Those ears look pretty perfect to me OP!

Lindy2 · 16/10/2020 23:04

I could only see what you meant when you pointed it out. I don't see how that slightly different shape would impact on hearing at all. The actual inside ear bit and access to the ear drum all looks good to me . Do both ears match?

MrFlibblesEyes · 17/10/2020 05:47

I still can't see what's wrong even though you've pointed it out! Maybe the lobe just needs to flesh out a bit as he gains weight?

PurpleFrames · 17/10/2020 05:52

That's a totally standard normal ear

mocktail · 17/10/2020 05:56

It looks perfect to me.

PracticingPerson · 17/10/2020 06:03

Flowers for worrying. But I didn't see any issue when I looked at the photo.

It might help for you to think of all the visible differences people have, and measure this against those? Even if this is a slightly non-standard ear, it is at the very very mild end of the scale.

saywhatwhatnow · 17/10/2020 06:08

Looks completely fine! I literally wouldn't look twice. Is he your first baby?

IHateCoronavirus · 17/10/2020 06:13

He has a normal ear as far as I’m concerned.

HoppingPavlova · 17/10/2020 06:14

Is it both ears or just the one? Your use of the word deformed is interesting! There is a difference (not deformity) in ears that looks similar and is present in approx 1% of the population. It’s of no physical importance, not an issue, just a difference. From memory it’s standard for it be like that for both ears though.

One of my ears has a small outgrowth if cartlidge on the top, it’s always been there, not an issue. I guess I could have had it chopped off but I can’t imagine why. Maybe if I was an ear model?

fallfallfall · 17/10/2020 06:34

Ear deformities are linked to kidney issues. If your worried speak to your GP.
