Baby favours one side of her head?

My 3 month old dd has always favoured the left side of her head. So when I put her down to sleep, she sleeps with her head to the left side (the side of her face flat to the mattress), if I put her in her swing she turns her head to the left. She can hold her head up straight but when her neck gets tired her head falls to the left. She can definitely move her neck around to both sides as she does this when following me around the room or when she tries to look at the TV.

Is this a problem and something I need to contact a Dr about?

My eldest daughter was like this, i took her to an osteopath at about 3mths after one sessuon with him we went home, i laod her down for her nap and for the first time her head rolled to the right. He said she had likely been squished one way in the qomb and the muscles down one side of her body were tight. She had 3 sessions with him.

Shes 3 now and perfectly fine

It was the GP who actually noticed she favoured the left side and recommended the osteopath

Yes, it sounds like tortecollis. An osteopath will sort it quickly for you but I would make an appointment urgently. I had ds's treated around 6-8 weeks, but it gets more difficult the older they get and can lead to a flat head. My GP was no use - his response was, 'nothing I can do, but come back in 6 months if his head is flat and I can give you a helmet to correct it.' Hmm It took 2-3 appointments with the osteopath and he was clearly much more comfortable after the first one.

I've heard this can be tirticollis. Both of mine were similar, favoured one side and when little one was in pushchair his neck would go to the left. He would never be straight in the pushchair. It still goes to the left a but, he's 7 months. I'm not sure if it was mild tirticollis, but slowly it became less obvious with my toddler and with my 7 month old appears to be going the same way. If you're worried go to the gp, but I wouldn't advise going straight to osteopath as you may be paying for unnecessary treatment

Maybe put a lava lamp or night light on the side she favours less, night encourage her to turn that way x
