Self isolating with a 1 year old

I have a 13 month old and we need to isolate for 14 days. We have a small garden which we are very grateful for but dreading the next two weeks as we usually spend a lot of the day out at parks/national trust places.

Please give me all your tips/activities to help me keep her occupied!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh no! I'd start trawling Pinterest and Instagram for ideas - you could probably get a start on some cute Christmas cards if you're so inclined.

Sofa cushion obstacle course
Sand pit/box in garden (we just use a cheap under bed plastic box!)
Painting
Dry messy play with some lentils/rice/pasta and some scoops, loo roll tubes, jugs
Reading and story sacks
Long baths - put some different toys in like a plastic tea set

Can you afford a new toy or book every few days from amazon?

A mid afternoon long bath with toys she doesn't usually get to play with in the bath would kill an hour.

Use tv. A 2-3 bursts of 45 mins of tv will kill time and break things up. You can use this time to prep a meal or have a shower or use the loo.

It's going to be boring but you will manage.

Do you live on a quiet road? If so I'd still go for a daily 10-15 min walk round the block during a quiet time e.g very early in the morning.

Try and stay positive, maybe set yourself a challenge over that two weeks to clean out that cupboard, learn guitar, gain/lose a few pounds

Really feel for you. There is a very small print on the government page that says there are exemptions for people with small children who have to self isolate - I assume under the radar things that won’t endanger others like walks somewhere not busy... I’m the same and rely on being out to get through the day.

Thanks everyone!! She's a very active kid and gets easily bored inside so will be trying a few of these ideas out, thanks!
