Bed Wetting - After 6 months dry - stressed

Hi Everyone

My DS has started wetting the bed almost every night since starting back at School and also I have a newborn daughter one week old. My son is 4.

Last night he had 2 wees before bed and I was planning on a dream wee. My husband let me sleep though , and saw to our daughter and of course my son wet the bed.

I'm stressing and getting real anxiety about it. I'm worried it could be something underlying, gutted if he's stressed or anxious himself. 😢

I just don't know what to do
I've spoken to the teacher and she says he has regular wees in school.

Has anyone else been through the same ?

Have you spoken to him about school? What does he say? Does he feel worried about it?

As he's only four he doesn't need to be going full time yet. You could scale it back to just mornings?

Underlying could be a uti or constipation but it sounds like emotional upheaval. He had a lot going on.

Thank you both
I think so too, I think it's a lot going on. So how do I combat that? Lots of positivity , time with mum & Dad , etc??

Would you put pull ups back on? I'm thinking no..... 😏

Definitely make some time for him. Talk to him- how is he feeling about it all?

Remember, until the term after he turns five he's not compulsory school age, so you can keep him off whenever you feel the need with no penalties.

I have the same thing with my preschooler- I've put it down to sleeping more heavily now that we are busier again during the day and put him in pajama pants again until it passes

It's most likely because of the new baby.

However, my daughter was totally dry by age 3 and then began wetting the bed. It was type 1 diabetes. You would However have noticed that he was drinking far more and tired a lot. So don't panic.

Could be constipation. My son started having random wee accidents which turned out to be constipation.

Thank you all for your replies .
I'm overreacting I think that it's diabetes. He's always been tired in the afternoon so this is nothing new, and always had a grump on if he is tired. He's not drinking more at all, if anything I wish he would drink more, but when they're in school it's hard to be in control isn't it.

I'm in Wales so is it compulsory at 4 to send him to school? I thought it was?

Both of my children regressed at night for a period. With both I just reverted back to drynites pull-ups until we had a whole week of dry ones in the morning. Took about a month with Ds1 aged 4 and maybe 3 or 4 months with Ds2 who was 6.

We absolutely made no fuss at all, just carried on as normal until they were ready to go back to pants.

No, compulsory school age is five to sixteen years.
