Tips on 3 & 1 year old playing together

My DC were totally doing my head in yesterday, and I'm wondering if anyone has any nuggets of wisdom to share.

As soon as one plays with a toy, the other wants it and will try and join in (or just snatch it). I feel sorry for 3.5 year old when her sis wrecks her train track, but she also often won't let her 15 month old sister just be & has to go after her game.

I'm constantly saying 'we don't snatch' 'take turns' it's exhausting. Today they've been great and played together, but on days like yesterday, what am I missing?!

I have the same problems with my baby and four year old, wish I knew the answer! The one yeas old is too young to be reasoned with so I would probably keep trying to persuade your eldest to share. It’s tiring isn’t it. Sometimes if I join in with the playing that can distract the oldest one.

Yes that's what I encourage her to do @TigerQuollTigerQuoll and it sometimes works. Wish we had a bigger place, as they're on top of each other in whatever room we're in.

The eldest is in preschool for 4 days, a total sanity saver, but will have to reduce her time there as work are cutting my partners hours. Hopefully she will have learned to share by then Confused

One year olds aren't really able to play with some else. At that age they don't have the ability for collaboration.
