Changing baby boys

OK, Mumsnet, hit me. There has got to be a way to change a baby boy's poo nappy without him peeing all over and soaking his clothes, right? I've tried to catch it in the nappy or stick something over it but it just seems to rub out over his belly and down the sides! He never pees instantly either- seems to wait until you're wiping the poo away. He's having to have his outfit changed about six times a day- help!

Open nappy..... leave it a few seconds so the cold air gets in. Then close again until he pees.

Also sounds crude but out wee boy got a little semi before he was going to pee (sorry not sure how else to describe it!)... keep an eye out for that... As soon as I see that I shut the nappy again and haven't been peed on in months

I just put a flannel over while I cleaned him

Second what @Cherry85 said. Open, let cold air in for a few seconds, close nappy again and wait a minute. More often than not, baby will pee.

Thanks. My problem is that even if the nappy is put back when he pees, it still shoots up and out onto his belly and down the sides onto his vest.

Google "peepee teepees"... you won't be disappointed 😂

Great if DS lies still. Mine does not. I just have a folded muslin to hand that usually does the job.

@sarge89 Grin

What stops it just escaping from the sides though?

Baby wipe over the willy! Game changer

Rubyroost · 14/10/2020 16:20

We always had a Terry towel underneath when changing, still do as I don't like the wetness from cotton wool or wipes. Fold it in half into a triangle, put under your babies bum. Close the towel up over him if you think he's gonna go. BTW, it doesn't lessen and it stops at about 3 months.

Rubyroost · 14/10/2020 16:21

Does

Sexnotgender · 14/10/2020 16:22

Teepee definitely. Baby boys are a bloody menace 😂

Put something absorbant over the top of the changing mat - we had some little waterproof-backed covers from Mothercare, but a mission would do, or a towel. That will soak up the wee rather than letting it become a lake around him.

nicknamehelp · 14/10/2020 16:34

be quick my friend who had a dd was amazed at how quick I could change a nappy!

greenemerald · 14/10/2020 21:53

Put a wipe over it. It'll soak the wetness up without it trickling down the sides
