Cleaning Baby Toys

My baby is 6.5 months old, and everything is going in his mouth at the moment. How often do you wipe down baby toys? And with what? just hot water and a cloth?

Never Confused
I only clean them when out and about and they fall into the mud or on the street etc.
I don't think it's possible to keep bugs and germs away, babies stick everything into their mouth...

I use Milton tablets, Chuck one in a bowl of cold water with the toys for 15 mins and it's sterile. I do this every couple of days

I never did unless they've been dropped outside or sicked on.

Another never here! Once you've seen them lick the sole of a shoe it seems kind of pointless.....

Never unless he’s dropped it in mud or dog poo. My gran said not washing toys (and eating dirt lol) builds immune systems and she must have had a point because he only got his first cold at 10 months.

Sandytoes86 · 13/10/2020 19:56

With my first baby I wiped with a Milton solution every so often and after other children playing , with my second only if other babies played /mouthed them

Megan2018 · 13/10/2020 20:02

I clean them if they get vomited on, other than that we embrace the dirt in this house. With Covid immune systems need a helping hand as they aren’t getting the normal exposure.

Second hand toys get a wipe or soak as appropriate and soft toys or fabric get a go in the machine.

Bath toys sporadically get a go in Milton overnight.

Ok good! Ive never cleaned them either. I did see him licking the floor the other day so it seemed sort of pointless to me too

Rarely bother unless they look visibly dirty or there’s a reason (covered in sick/poop/dropped outside). They need some exposure to build up their immune system.

Soft ones I gather up occasionally and throw in washing machine.
Otherwise they get washed in just hot water as and when. Favourite teether gets rinsed more often, others not often.

He’s 5 1/2 months. He licked the cats tail this morning!

About 3 times a year I give toys a wash with warm soapy water and every couple of months I Chuck cuddly toys in the wash. I don't do anything else, the germs are good for ds' immune system.
