Took my DD to the public toilet (recently potty trained). Very narrow so just popped her trousers down outside and put her on the seat.

Mortified when I pulled her off to see blood on the front of the seat obviously from someone’s period.

Pulled her trousers up washed hands and headed out. DH wiped her down afterwards once I was out and holding her as there was no room in the toilet.

Will this cause any problems? Or just dirty?

Yes I do also suffer with anxiety but just wondering are there any risks?

Just more disgusting. With a good wipe down and a bath when she gets home.
You weren't to now. Don't feel too bad x

PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:05

I feel absolutely awful it was so disgusting. We even put sanitizer on that bit of her leg!

She will be fine.
You said you sanitised her leg where she touched the blood after?
People can be vile.

PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:18

People are vile why would you leave that there?!

MerryMarigold · 10/10/2020 16:21

I am just completely shocked that you would put your child on a public toilet without checking. There's usually tons of wee from people hovering. My dd is nearly 12 and I still remind her to check the seat first!

PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:22

I didn’t wipe her bum with a wipe just toilet paper!

OP posts:
PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:22

Didn’t check because it was a pretty stressful situation and a narrow toilet

OP posts:
PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:23

Be as shocked as you want, it happened and I’m looking for help/ advice but thanks for your input

PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:23

So please let me know the risks @MerryMarigold

PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:29

Thank you @whyareyoulying @Gibbonsgibbonsgibbons @Babysharksmom I just hope it didn’t go anywhere else if you get what I mean

@MerryMarigold stop trying to mom shame!!! Give helpful advice or say nothing at all!! Everyone makes mistakes bab

PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:33

Thank you @Justwingingmotherhood ! She’s only been potty trained a little while so still finding public toilet trips a bit stressful when they are small and other people about!

Would be really interested in the actual risks of this situation though

Not to put too fine a point on it, but she'll have sat in worse when she's been playing at the park.

She'll be totally fine. Stop worrying 🌷

Lisa78Lemon · 10/10/2020 16:35

With regards risks of transmissible diseases etc, contact your GP who will know best x

MJMG2015 · 10/10/2020 16:36

Actual risks of this situation...

You having yourself an early death worrying about a non issue. Truly. She Will Be Fine.

PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:39

Transmissible diseases like what?

OP posts:
PapercraftNinja · 10/10/2020 16:40

Would the majority of you call the gp over this?

OP posts:
Letsallscreamatthesistene · 10/10/2020 16:44

Hi! Im a nurse. The actual risk of transmitting disease in this situation is so miniscule its not even worth writing about. I wouldnt bother contacting your GP at all.

She'll be ok.

I agree though, its disgusting. What is WRONG with people?!

Justwingingmotherhood · 10/10/2020 16:45

@PapercraftNinja personally I would call the doctor on monday. I'm very funny with stuff like this. Good luck sweetheart and ignore people who feel the need to make sarcy remarks x

Scaraffito · 10/10/2020 16:46

She will be fine, if it'll make you feel a bit more comfortable give her a nice long bath later and pop her clothes straight in the wash.

BewilderedDoughnut · 10/10/2020 16:47

Always, always always wipe the seat if using a public toilet.

People are grim.

Caterina99 · 10/10/2020 16:50

It’s gross but honestly she’ll be completely fine. I wouldn’t call the doctor over it at all.

(And yes we’ve been at soft play where some kid has had an accident on the slide and a few have gone down before anyone has realized. Bleurgh)
