6 months vs 8 months - what’s the difference?

My son will be 6 months soon and 8 months in December. Is there much difference between 6 months and 8 months in terms of things they can do? I was just curious as to what he will be like by the end of the year compared to now! I know it sounds silly but I just can’t imagine him getting any bigger! Grin

🥰🥰My little boy is 8 months he can now pull himself up on things, crawl (albeit backwards 😂) babbles all the time, can sit for longer periods and play with his toys, waves at everyone including the TV and will come at me with his mouth wide open if I ask him for a kiss 😂he could do none of these things at 6 months xx

It depends on your baby. For mine, crawling and standing, a few signs and eating 2 meals a day.

Mine was like a different baby - really frustrated and grumpy at 6 months, could crawl by 8 months and was pulling her self up, eating really well, really engaged and generally lovely.

It’s quite a big difference. In the next two months, you’ll get the start of proper communication if you’re lucky, which is a real game changer (pointing was such a god send!) and they’ll respond more to what you say as well.

They are often much more mobile at 8 months, and also so much more reliable at what they can do while sitting, which tends to mean they can amuse themselves more - they can easily bend to grab a nearby toy without overbalancing, and will explore it with more interest, which can buy you a little extra precious time to do something other than being entertaining!

Eating may get a bit less messy as coordination improves. Or it can get more messy as they learn to smear/throw!

I think 8 months is a great time. I remember it very fondly, even though it coincided with my DD having a bit of a tough time with naps.

Sitting confidently, eating solids well, better dexterity, possibly starting to crawl and pull up, down to 2 predictable naps.

I found it quite a big difference, in a good way

Ah these are lovely to read and exciting to look forward to! I'm same as you OP with a nearly 6 month old.
