Really blocked nose in 8 month old

If anyone has any tips that would be great! My daughters nose has been really blocked for about a week now but she has no fever and doesn’t seem unwell. She’s in very good spirits but she’s awake frequently alllll night and very fed up at night :(

I’m wondering if it’s an allergy rather than a cold now since she seems fine otherwise..I’ve tried steamy bathroom, vicks (on her sleep suit), plug in vapour thing. I have saline drops and an aspirator but she gets so wriggly and upset it’s makes it very tricky to do effectively and also it means she’s wide awake after all the drama in the night!

Have you tilted the head end of the her cot? That always helped mine when she had a blocked nose when she was a baby.

I was given some of the Klarvol capsules to sample here a few weeks back, much milder than Olbas Oil or vicks but seemed to do a good job of clearing noses.

I've no experience in this sort of thing but is it worth going to pharmacy if you suspect allergy?

I would tilt ur little ones cot matress up (we have to use books) to help them breathe easier and we purchased the calpol plug ins...once u have the plug in u can just buy the refills...we also put snuffle babe on our little ones chest and soles of feet...sterimar is fab aswel it's a nose spray that helps clear the congestion...just check u can use it due to little ones age xxx

Get a nosefrida and suck that snot out! It’s a bit gross but it’s absolutely worth it if it can help your baby breathe. Also try getting some saline drops as this helps to clear the nose.

A combo of the calpol plug ins, tilting the cot and a humidifyer worked for us

Saline drops are really effective if you can get them in. I’m afraid I’d probably pin her down, cruel to be kind. She’ll benefit more for a few minutes of upset.

We use saline drops and the nasal bulb but it might as well be a medieval torture device by the way ds cries. He had the same thing too for ages, I think it's just a cold. Apparently it could be related to teething because of the inflammation caused by the teeth coming through the gums (especially the top ones).

It sounds like you’ve tried everything.
For us it’s a combi pre bedtime - suck the snot out and saline drops (he needs pinning down for this level of torture) then bath with Asda’s vapour bubble bath, calpol vapour plug in while he’s bathing so it’s got time to fill the room.
Snuffle babe on his chest (when he was 8 months on his vest). I don’t put it on the outside as he has a habit of pulling his sleeping bag up into his mouth / face to suck on it and it’s hella painful to get that stuff in your eyes!
That tends to sort him out. To be honest if he was waking at night with it I’d probably give him calpol too because he might have a headache or aching eyes / nose which I get when I’m stuffy, just to relieve any pain he might have.

I'd use saline drops. Propping the cot isn't recommended as baby can end up stuck down the bottom of the cot.
