What age do you get babies feet measured for their first real shoes?

My little one is 7months and wears prewalkers now and then. What age do you get their feet measured for their first pair of proper shoes?

I got mine creeping shoes when they looked like they were going to walk dnd then real shoes after a month of walking.

@ginfordinner my dd was walking at 9 months, so it's not unheard of.

They may be like my dc2 who was scared of shoes so was barefoot everywhere until one day my dad put them on to go outside and he wore them!

Years ago I was a kids shoe fitter at Clark's, we always told customers wait until the kids had been walking 4-6 weeks as the bones in the feet need time to flatten out.

I didn’t wait a month after she started walking simply because that was at the start of this summer and after months of being stuck inside I was keen to get out to parks etc, and my daughter wanted to walk. I wasn’t sure how this could happen if I had to wait a month before getting her measured. So we got soft soles shoes in Clark’s within a week of her first steps. Her walking improved no end once she was walking round parks and so on compared to only taking a few steps in the house.

Anyway, definitely no need for shoes before they can walk. Save yourself some money!

TBH it helped that DD didn't start walking until the November, and the weather was just too awful to go outside, so she ran around shoeless inside all winter before we got her some shoes.
