Nice, soft wraps for prefolds?

My SIL gifted me with a huge ol' box of Cotton Bottoms prefolds. V nice to use, but the velcro on the wraps is very stiff, and is giving my Rubenesque DD (4 mos) a rash on her chunky little belly.

I tried her brother's Tots wrap on her, as the Velcro is much softer, but it didn't fit very well over the prefolds. Admittedly she's only 18 lbs and probably a bit young for his Size 2s. Also they're the old style Tots wraps (no gussets).

Any suggestions on a wrap that will work with prefolds but won't rub??

Have you tried the motherease aplix wraps much nicer than the cotton bottom ones and work well with the prefolds.

nappyneeds · 11/10/2007 11:50

I would agree with the motherease. They are the best selling brand of wrap for us and are much softer and flexible - as in the aplix isnt all thick and stiff like some wraps

lailasmum · 11/10/2007 11:57

I would recommend the nature babies wraps, either classic wrap or multiwrap, they are softer than any other I have come across including motherease so are really nice. There is also a choice of popper or velcro fastening on the classic wrap.

You only want aplix/velcro with a prefold. Pooper wraps are no good as they do not hold the prefolds in place.

hey Cocobear, motherease rikki wraps are lovely and soft and nicely tight fitting for the prefolds. I've also got a couple of Prowraps which were nice (she's too big for them now though)

you were on the June ante-natal thread ages ago weren't you? (i was daisybump then) We'd wondered what had become of you!

Congratulations on your LO.

and come say hello on the postnatal thread

nappyzone · 11/10/2007 12:21

Hiya i second the nature babies - they are really soft, i dont find the aplix stiff at all.

Flamesparrow · 11/10/2007 14:19

The bambinex wraps are nice too

curlywurlycremeegg · 11/10/2007 14:32

Damn you Sparrow I wanted to say that

Flamesparrow · 11/10/2007 14:48

lol

Wow, thank you everyone. One of the mums here (I'm in Ghana) has Motherease Rikkis, so I'll give one a try and see if it works for Chubby Baby. Shall have a look at the others, as well.

Hi Daisybump-as-was! Yes, DD arrived in an all-fired rush on June 16. Very quick this time and gas and air did the trick, unlike the nightmare of DS!! Shall stop by the postnatal thread...

ds2 has prefolds with nature babies classic/multiwrap (poppered)(medium), mothease rikki (9-16kg) and totbots 2 (new style) all are good but i usually use a nappy nippa to aid poo containment. he has been using them since he was about 3 months 6kg although tots bots 2 still nearly too big at 7kg. nature baby classic is better than multiwrap for un-nippa'd prefolds IMO.

Cocobear · 12/10/2007 12:23

OOOOOO... am seduced by colour choices of nature babies!!!! I'm way too lazy too nippa - are classics and rikki okay without nippas?

Prorap classic and Rikki eco-theme are according to my nappy laundering service who have just left me what they reckon are the six top wraps for pre-folds which don't need nippas (prorap classic, nappy nation, super whisper, motherease, mio-soft and rikki eco-theme). Apparently different ones work best for different shaped babies so try out a couple of different ones until you find what works for your LO.
