WWYD - 11yr old DS refuses to use school toilets because they're disgustingly dirty

My 11yr has just started Yr7 and is enjoying his new school experience, BUT he has IBS and is refusing to have a poo at school because he says the boys loos are foul - piss everywhere, sh*t left on loo seats and walls of cubicle, 2 out of the 4 cubicles are constantly locked and theres only one usable toilet available out of 4 (the door doesnt lock on one out of the 2 that arent locked) and often there is no loo paper. He is waiting all day to go when he gets home and so is suffering the horrible IBS pain, etc. Do I say something to the school? Or would it be seen as me (and my son) just being picky and with everything else going on that schools have to deal with should I just keep quiet? It got to the point a couple of days ago that he said he was feeling terrible and desperate at the end of the day, and he ended up having a big flare up in the middle of the night with lots of dire pain that got so bad he vomited as well as having upset tummy. I know it wasnt a big because this happens every few months too, and once the pain is gone he feels fine again. He has untreated sleep apnea which I'm trying to get him seen for and I'm thinking the IBS could be linked to that - I have sleep apnea (now on cpap) and until I got my CPAP machine I had dreadful IBS. Now I'm on cpap my IBS has reduced, because I'm sleeping better and now feeling so anxious etc. Anyway, sorry for the length of this - I dont post very often but I could really do with some opinions. Thanks

Yes you should speak to them. It's not on that there are only 2 working toilets and one with a lockable door. And they should be being kept hygienic at this time more than any other! I know that will be difficult with 11 year old boys, but I'm sure better than it sounds is possible?

My Ds is autistic and wasn't able to access the toilets for five years at his previous school. He was too anxious to use them. Thankfully he was able to hold on until he got home.

Could you ask the school if your Ds could maybe access the disabled toilet as he is struggling with his IBS?

Thanks ladies, the problem is he's really embarrassed about his "tummy troubles" and I know he wont use the disabled loo because his friends will notice. It's so difficult!!

Ps apologies for all the typos in my post! Lol

I can understand him not wanting to look different. My Ds attended an all boys secondary and was bullied terribly for his differences. And the toilets were disgusting too!

I would definitely contact the school and see what they suggest.
