Getting a toddler a Covid test

My 18 month old has been sent home from his childminders with a cough. I think it’s just a cough & cold but he needs a negative test result before he can go back. Does anyone have any experience of getting a child this age a test? Would I be better booking a slot at a drive/ walk-in test centre or would home testing be easier for such a little one?

Drive in if you can put them on the passenger seat or if someone else can drive and an adult can sit next to them in the back. It’s easier in the car seat because they are contained. You only need to do their nostrils. You will need to pin their hands down while you donut and give them a treat afterwards. It was much easier than I expected.

Take whatever you can get, won't make any difference if you do it in the car or at home.
