Is it safe for my baby to sleep in a room after I've used carpet cleaner?

My partner spilt some milk on the carpet in our six month old baby's bedroom about an hour ago and immediately decided to treat the carpet with quite a lot of 1001 mousse. My daughter's room now stinks of the stuff and it's her bedtime - should we put her down to sleep there or set up the travel cot in another room until the fumes have gone? Her bedroom is a tiny box room and the window is closed as it's a cold night so there is no ventilation at all. I'm worried about the fumes causing her harm but my partner thinks it'll be fine. We are currently arguing so it would be good to have some help with this! Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't put her in there tonight, no. At the very least, not having her in there means you can air the room out properly (window open, door shut) for everyone's benefit. But no-one really knows exactly what the perfumes and other chemicals in cleaning products do to our health, so I'd keep her away until the smell has gone at least.

I personally wouldn’t that stuff really lingers and doesn’t seem like something she should breathe in over night. But I’m a FTM so could be a bit OTT about this. Sorry you guys are arguing though.

If you're interested in a bit of the science/medicine here's a good link, from the Royal College of Paediatrics www.rcpch.ac.uk/resources/inside-story-health-effects-indoor-air-quality-children-young-people

I wouldn't have the baby sleep in there, no way. I'd open up the window for the night and close the door so it will air out for tomorrow.
