Not unusual for a 7 year old to start getting a bit wiffy! You can buy deodarant wipes if thats easier for her. I tried to avoid sprays when dd was younger and the roll ons still don't dry instantly! I don't think you need to worry about taking ehr to the gp, I seem to remember dd started getting little 'buds' at this age, but they didn't develop much over the course of a couple of years. I think its all a matter of weight and height, so if she's one of the older looking girls in her class, chances are she'll be a little bit further forward then the rest anyway. Not sure about a book. I got one from a library sale years ago, which did the job. You could probably find enough info on the internet for now. HTH

DD2 has used an underarm deodorant since she was about 4 or 5. I worried that if she didn't her friends at school would comment on the smell (her older sister used to make comments to her which I know hurt her feelings). I would say her breast development is normal for her age BUT she did have a period shortly before her 10th birthday. It was very brief and now a year on she hasn't had another. She does have very noticeable mood swings and has done for a few years. DD1s development seemed more normal somehow. I did mention the deodorant issue to my GP on one occasion when she saw him for something else and he was unconcerned about it and just said it was normal for some girls. I also spoke to him about her early period and he said 9 was within normal limits.

If I were you I'd maybe have a word with the practice nurse or your GP and voice your concerns - although I imagine they will just reassure you.

I can't help with a book. I did buy one but can't remeber now which one and DD has squirelled it away in her bedroom - probably out of sight of her friends.

Hope this helps. It seems so unfair when they don't understand what's happening.

I've recently been through this with my 7 yr old Dd too,she has had all the symptoms you describe.
We first noticed lumpiness in one of her breasts ,so took her to the gp to get it checked and he referred her to the hospital to see a endcrinologist(sp) to see if it was early puberty.
The consultant checked her all over and xrayed her hand,to check for bone age,as this gives a good indication of early puberty.
The consultant did mention if there's no body hair ie under the armpits or in the pubic area then theres less chance of it being early puberty.

She decided my dd wasn't going through total puberty but is having fits and starts.ie her breast buds will swell then stop again afew days later and said this is actually quite normal in girls of this age,as their hormones are starting to get ready for puberty. She is monitoring Dd on a 6 monthly basis.

The main problem we are having are the pmt like moods but on consultants advice I am giving Dd evening primrose oil, which does seem to help abit.

Both my Gp and consultant said puberty is 'hitting' girls earlier every year.

Try not to worry and if it puts your mind at rest get her checked with your Gp
