50/50 custody

Could anybody share their experiences of 50/50 custody, please?
We have one child, he also has another child who he has roughly two nights a week, and we would remain local to each other. Adding these details as obviously our situation would be different to people who have multiple children, and therefore potentially multiple hobbies, schools etc, or to those who live in different towns etc
TIA

Our eldest, DSS does 50/50 and has done for years.

He does Sunday - Thursday one week at his mums, Monday -Thursday the other week at his mums. So 4 nights one week at mums, then 3 nights the next week.

His mum chose not to have him at weekends many years ago, that suits us down to the ground.

He has football 4 times a week, whichever house he is at they take him.

It’s worked without issues, for birthdays we just stick with how it falls on the day. For Christmas whichever house it falls on he spends Xmas eve there, he then goes to the other parent at some point on Xmas day and spends that night there.

Thank you for your response, it's really helpful. Regarding buying clothes, uniform etc, how do you go about this? Do you just buy the clothes he needs at each house? Split the purchase of uniforms?
We also have childcare fees for DS, do we just split these 50/50 would you say?

He has everything he needs at both houses, clothes , Xbox etc at each house.
Football boots go between, MacBook (he’s older now) goes between and his decent trainers go between as well.

When he has younger trainers tended to be purchased at each house as they were cheaper, but as he’s a teen it’s a lot more expensive now!

The big school purchases, blazer, pe kit just moved between, then he had individual shirt and trousers at each house.

All costs are split 50/50, but we give her £200 as my husband was always the higher earner so we always agreed that he would contribute £200 to her household costs.

Birthdays and Christmas presents at respective houses.
