Pushchair recommendations

I have a just over 2 year old who is outgrowing the smaller travel pushchair we got for him. He still needs a pushchair as we have a dog and he can't quite manage a full dog walk yet, but he doesn't use it for long so I am not looking to spend a lot of money on an all singing all dancing pushchair.

I basically need recommendations for a fairly standard pushchair for less than £100, that will last him until he is 3 or whenever he stops needing it. But importantly it does need to be able to handle some rougher terrain like woods, grass etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I have seen second hand Hauk, Mamas and Papas, Cugl etc but it is difficult to know if they would be suitable.

TIA :)

Ebay, Gumtree or local Facebook site. They hardly get used so you can pick up a real bargain. That's what I did.

We got a second hand Out n About Nipper from eBay for exactly this reason. We then wished we had it from the start! So we did use it with our second from newborn.

@VickySunshine thank you yep that's exactly what I plan to do but on Facebook Marketplace! It's more that there are so many out there that I have no idea which one to go for 🤦🏻‍♀️

@mnahmnah thank you that's so good to know. Will keep that one in mind. Do you take it on rough terrain?

Yes, it’s brilliant over all terrain. Really easy to manoeuvre, decent size as they get bigger. All very simple to use. This is the version we had

Joie Litetrax or a second hand BabyJogger City Mini or Mountain Buggy.

Avoid Cuggl like the plague, they are cheaply made, you will curse it. Hauck are OK in shopping centres but crap off road. Mamas and Papas similar, unless they've brought out a newer one.

You are looking for big wheels. That's the key.

Out n about nipper as well. They hold there value well second hand too (sold after 3 years use for £125). If bought second hand you could probably sell on again when you're done with it as they seem pretty bomb proof.

We use an Out n About nippa sport as our main buggy and plan to sell on. It tears up any terrain, has a decent sized shopping basket and we can use it for running. The sport version has a fixed front wheel, which can take some getting used to.

I also have a second hand bugaboo bee, bought very cheaply on gumtree, which we keep in the boot of the car. The bugaboo is third hand now but so well made that I will probably be able to sell on again for close to what we paid for it.

Look at a second hand Baby Jogger City Mini GT. We had one with our second DS and my 6 year old would hop in sometimes and still fitted fine. It’s super easy to fold down too and the extra large canopy is great in sun and rain. They hold their price well too!

We bought a icandy peach jogger all terrain and take it EVERYWHERE. It's been a life saver. Has big chunky wheels, came with a pump in the basket unenderneath (which is big enough to fit a lazy spaniel in by the way) and it came with both the carry cot and pushchair seat. It was £125 from Facebook and was 4th hand when we got it but had never been used by the previous owners. We use it every day without fail.

NewMumma1819 · 27/09/2020 09:53

Oh, and we've used it on farm tracks, in the woods and on the beach!
