Rash on babies chin

Hi ladies. FTM here. I had my DS 4 days a go and he's perfect but with all the milk, dribbling etc he has a little sore chin.
I've been told not to use any creams etc on DS for at least 6 weeks but I was wandering if there is anything I can use to help clear it up?

Maybe stick a layer of vaseline on to protect it

Lansinoh cream would form a barrier & prevent further damp irritation

Am i 'allowed' to use those things though? I don't want my MW to shout at me! 😝

Would they rather that the chin got worse and possibly infected? Its your child, of course you can put something on to protect his skin

As a FTM I'm just like 😳😳😳😳😳 so don't want to mess up within the first week of my child being born!
Think I'll go with the Vaseline. Will look to pick some up tomorrow

Lansinoh is safe to use on your nipples whilst he’s feeding so I’m sure it will be fine on his chin.

My daughter, albeit older, had a terrible rash on her chin which got infected, was pusy, red raw, cracked and agony. You do not want that for a newborn, took weeks to heal and 2 different types of cream applied 4 times a day, with steroids, antibiotics, anti septics and in the end antifungal! It was an absolute nightmare, and so sore for her. She's 2.5.

You do not want that for your new born, put lansinoh or some hydrating protective on it, vaseline won't do anything it's just a barrier. Go to the pharmacy, they're really helpful.

@jomaIone I'm seeing MW tomorrow so I'll ask her and then go to Boots afterwards to get something from the pharmacy.
