Hi, can you help?
My 6 month old is wet every morning I have tried Pampers, Sainsburys and Tescos nappies. I have tried cutting out the middle bit of another nappy and sticking it in another nappy. Real nappies (Kooshies) have failed I'm really getting desparate. He goes to bed at 6pm and wakes at 6am wet through. He's on 3 formula feeds (3 x 7ozs) and one short breast feed just before bed, I know I could drop this but I don't want to yet!
What can I do I feel really bad! he doesn't cry but I know he's probably lying wet and I can't get back to sleep when I wake up in the night. Its affecting me and I'm tired all day. Can you buy special Nappys on the internet? any help welcome.

Have you tried changing his nappy when you go to bed - you can do it while he's still asleep.
Also are you sure you're on the correct size?

Have you tried using the next size up? Also does he wear a vest? i found if dd wasnt wearing a vest she tended to get a gappy nappy and it would leek over the top. Dd2's nappy burst the other morning (pampers)

I go to bed about 2 hours after he does most nights! he's 18.9lbs and I've got him on size 4 Pampers?

Yes he's got a vest and sleepsuit on but it does come up on over the front I think

I might go get size 4+ then

I had a similar problem with my DS. So I changed nappies (from Pampers to Huggies) and bought the next size up and it seemed to help.

colditz · 10/10/2007 08:56

Chocolate penny I'd get size 5 if you think there is any chance he needs a bigger size - the difference between 4 and 4+ is indistinguishable.

I've always used pampers but when ds2 used to wake up soaking a friend of mine (who is also a maternity nurse) recommended going up a full size and trying huggies instead (not the new flexi ones). She said that in her experience huggies were better for boys at night. Also, try pointing "it" down the way rather than letting it point upwards. It seems to help!

OK thanks I think now he might do, I have a totsbots with mother ease wrap sitting unused to, could this do the trick?

What happened to extra absorbent panel at the front nappys for boys, or did I imagine that?

DaisyWhoooo · 10/10/2007 09:06

Tots Bots are far far better than Kushies, so it may well do the trick. I originally changed to cloth because of problems with leaking overnight and this solved it. You will need an absorbent booster to go in the nappy too for overnights. What size Tots Bots is it?

Chocolatepenny · 10/10/2007 09:10

Thks Daisy can I answer you later? its in his room and he's asleep atm.

Tots Bots are great, kooshies are totally useless in my opinion. make sure the nappy is prewashed so its at max absorbency and then throw in a booster too just to be sure. You would probably need a size 2 tots bots for a 6 month old.

TrinityRhino · 10/10/2007 09:21

hmm It does sound like you need a bigger nappy cause my little 16lb gecko is stretching the size 4 pampers.

Chocolatepenny · 10/10/2007 09:29

Yes I'll go for size 5 Pampers then and also try TotsBots nap.
I though Kushies were rubbish but I thought that was just me! ha.
I find the weight description on Disposables confusing, I'd done a wrong un obviously.

When my DS was at the really heavy wetting stage, I used to put two Motherease cloth nappies on him, one inside the other, with a booster as well! He looked like a bowling ball with little arms and legs but this arrangement did contain everything and the bed was dry in the morning!

WaynettaVonBlood · 10/10/2007 09:51

Are you on BabyDry or ActiveFit? I find AF better than BD....

sallyf104 · 10/10/2007 10:02

Have you tried putting pull-ups over a disposable? (I did this with ds and never had a leak again).
Or
Cloth nappy wrap over disposable (would be cheaper and greener than buying loads of pull-ups).
Or
A super absorbant cloth nappy like a Huggle with a wrap (have never had any night leaks with these on heavy wetting dd2)

Chocolatepenny · 10/10/2007 12:58

Just bought some Pull Ups they are excellent! why haven't I done this before.
