I need a rant ladies. Am I being silly? So anyways. My beautiful little girl is 6 weeks old and when I was last at the doctor's with her (getting her weighed) at 3 weeks the doctor told me when she was 4 weeks to book her in for her 6-8 week checks and her immunisations as the doctor's is busy and that way I would be guaranteed an appointment. Well I phoned the doctors as soon as she was 4 weeks and when I got through the receptionist told me that she was on a waiting list and that I couldn't book an appointment that far in advance..
At 5 weeks I rang again and was told she was booked in for the 28th of October. She will be 13 weeks. And I wasn't informed of this appointment and that these was her first lot not her second lot. And I was told yes we know and that's when she's booked in for as we are fully booked until then. My response was how can you be fully booked up when you can't book appointments that far in advance to which the snotty cow at the other end told me that if I was that bothered about it I should of phoned up sooner and not leave it last minute. Hmmmm. I tried to keep my cool when I told her that I had rang last week when she was 4 weeks to be told she was on a waiting list and that I couldn't book that far in advance and she argued with me. Anyways it ended with me telling her it wasn't good enough and her telling me that I had to ring and ask for cancellations and she hung up. Well she's now 6 weeks and 4 days old and I've rang pretty much everyday since and been told the same I've even had a letter through saying she needs it on the 3rd of October which I've told them about and they've ignored it and said there's nothing they can do about it. I'm fuming.

How long can babies actually go for their immunisations? I thought they were 8 week, 12 weeks and 16 weeks for a reason..

Anyways thanks for reading.. if you got this far give yourself a shiny lol xx

Ring up and ask to speak the practice manager and explain what has happened.

Immunisation appointments are with the nurse not the doctors. It’s not a problem to start them later from effectiveness point of view but they need to have the same amount of time apart.

I might be wrong but I thought the first imms were at 8 weeks as that's around when the antibodies they got from you when you had the whooping cough vaccine in pregnancy run out? 13 weeks seems a bit late, you need to ask to speak to someone in charge or ask for a mo ikr phone doctor appointment to ask about the dangers of delaying immunisations, that could get something going maybe x

I'm in a similar situation I called my surgery the day after we got out of hospital to cancel my 40 week midwife appt and to make our check ups. I was told the appointments would be in the post. I phoned last week at 5 1/2 weeks to chase the appt to be told I wasn't on the list and that to get an appointment I needed to register my daughter. She said they were currently doing the 6 week checks at 8-10 weeks. Our appointment came through today and we will be 10 1/2 weeks. It's so frustrating!!
