Buggy - ocarro buggy board and carrycot / double buggy problems

DC will be just 3 when 2nd baby arrives in Feb.

We walk locally quite a lot, to nursery, shops etc.

We are debating the buggy board/double buggy as DC still uses the stroller when she's tired (after nursery/long walk) and with DC2 due in the winter I really don't want to be walking to and from shops at toddler pace. Sling is out of the question, tried it with DC1 and it totally flared up a old injury and a birth I jury.

Problems we are having are :
Buggy board - we have a Mamas and Papas Ocarro, and the board doesn't leave much leg room for walking, even with the handle extended. We are both tall, 5"10 and 6"3 and don't want to have to push the pram from the side. Also we have the newborn carrycot and don't believe DC1 will have much room to stand on the board with the carry cot in place, or will have to lean over it. Plus I don't want to buckle the frame as I've heard the boards can do.
Double buggy - DC1 is 3"4 and weighs 19kg so finding a double she fits in comfortably is proving impossible. We have tried the mountain duo which is too narrow for her shoulders, and the Jogger Mini which isn't long enough at the back so her head is above the hood. We also looked at the double Joie stroller which I'm not keen on as it doesn't have a carrycot/baby insert, and DC1 feet are nearly on the floor.

We have totally hit a dead end with it. Does anyone know of a double buggy that is suitable for a bigger toddler, or of a buggy add on like the board that would work better? Does anyone have the ocarro and board, does it work OK?

Need help before it starts a war between DP and I lol.

Thule glide double
Nipper double

Does anyone know the backrest height of the Nipper? I can't find it anywhere.

I have just measured DC back and it's 53cm 😲

Would second hand be an option? You could get one of the second hand mountain buggy URBAN JUNGLE DOUBLE, the seats are huge! I think they have a carrycot option and are normally around £50 on eBay so you wouldn’t be spending a fortune

I don't mind secondhand at all as I think DC1 will only use it until end of next summer anyway.

I'll have a look at that one. The mountain duo we seen in the shops was far too short in the backrest

Sorry it’s just the urban double. It’s rather different to the Duet, and the seat back is HUGE! DC has additional needs and we have the single version and they can easily fit in it—and are over twice your DC1’s age!

I feel your pain! I am 6ft1 and hated the buggy board with a passion as my stride was too long. I found the best way was once baby was in the seat, facing out gave the older child more room. I brought a second city mini and just didn't really use the hood, apart from rain when it could not be avoided. Good luck in your hunt, most buggies are not built for tall parents and children!

There is definitely a gap in the market for us tall families!!
