Bum shuffling- idea of timeline/when to worry

Hi

Just wanting some reassurance really. Dd is 17 months old and is a bum shuffler. Hasn't really worried me too much to date as know some babies/toddlers are and is just a different path of gross motor development often with delay in walking sometimes up to 2 years.

That said however recently had her nursery flag with me that they've noticed she still isn't pulling to stand and raised concerns whether there was any reason for this and it's made me worry a little. Honestly I just thought it's a mixture of lack of incentive and strength rather than any actual problem as she seems able to stand for a few seconds with little support when she is stood up against something but she just doesn't have any interest in doing it/pulling herself up to anything.

Know each child is different but just wondering what others experiences are? Has anyone else had a bum shuffler if so what was the timeline for them pulling themselves up and then walking?

Thanks 😊

Also please remember that she will walk in her own time, she'll not be heading out in 15 years time to a party bum shuffling down the road!

I took my first steps at 23 months, having been a bum shuffler. I am absolutely fine, no issues at all.

Bum shuffler here who walked the week of his second birthday. I asked the doctor when he was 18 months but they wouldnt see him until after his second birthday. Its hard but try to relax

I'v known a few late walkers and it's often been because they've had no need to walk - either an effective alternative mode of travel and one because a sibling used to get everything for them so they never actually had to move to reach toys etc.

All mine have walked on or before 10 months and there's definitely times I'v wished they were post 12 months.

Hmm

DS Indian crawled never knee crawled. Pulled up and hung on until about 13 months. Then walked. Sucked a dummy until 4 when I banned it.

DD: knee crawled and never coasted round furniture. At 16 months determined to stand alone for three days. Then ran. Wouldn't sit on toilet - scared. Didn't walk down stairs until 4 - scared. Had a bottle until 5. (And was bf until 9 months - and eventually took a bottle Blush).

They did both talk early tbf. But oh so different from each other in different ways. One alpha, one beta. Both thrilled to be at school together next week for the first time since dd was in Yr 1. 25 and 22. Both at Cambridge this year. One third yr, one PhD!

DD bum shuffled. She did everything late. Didn't roll till the day after her first birthday, started bum shuffling about 14 months. Started crawling at about 17 months when we had assumed she wouldn't bother with that. Nursery were concerned and I did call HV but HV wasn't worried. She started walking at 21 months and was running and jumping my her second birthday. No issues at all.

Oh and she never pulled herself up once. She just figured out eventually how to stand from the floor and then she was off.
