DD is 17 weeks and suddenly won’t nap for more than 30 mins, struggles to take her bottle without being extremely fussy (takes about an hour) and is all round more difficult than she was a couple of weeks ago. We had a good routine and it all seems to have gone out of the window. She just about sleeps ok at night but all else is a massive PITA. She’s just learnt to roll over and found her feet, so I wonder if that’s affecting things? At the 16 week jabs, my nurse said to start weaning her (she’s in 99th percentile) but everything I’ve read says to wait. Would weaning help things perhaps? At wits end...

@Atticus500 Hi :D the 30 minute nap thing is totally normal and developmental my little boy started lengthening his naps around 6.5/7 months and has only consistently started having a longer nap in the day just recently at 7.5months. Also a very fussy bottle feeder which we just persevere with try and keep it calm and turn the TV off so he's not distracted. I found weaning my boy at 6 months made him more unsettled to be honest so I don't think id recommend weaning but now his digestive system has adjusted he loves his solids and is taking to them very well. I think the 4-6 month mark was definitely the toughest stage for us. Hope it passes soon 😍xx

It's a phase don't worry it won't last forever.

Weaning won’t help because it’s a normal developmental phase that will pass, as all phases do. She’s becoming more alert and wanting to practise her new skills.

Also, as pp said, cat napping is really normal at around this age but naps will consolidate and lengthen in time. This is the time where some babies hit a ‘sleep regression’ which can affect day sleep as well as night time.
