Baby carrier for petite parent

Hoping for some recommendations.

Have been using the ergo embrace so far and it’s really comfy with my now 4 month old who’s fairly heavy already.

I bought the ergo omni 360 as well thinking that would be better for long days out as he grows. But I have started to use it and it’s just so uncomfortable. The waist support at the front seems to always dig in and doesn’t seem to go quite tight enough. And the straps slide off when worn rucksack style and way too bulky when I tried crossing them over as I have been with the embrace.

Ideally I want a sling that does the following:

Cross over back straps so they don’t slide and easier to clip.
Non thick padded straps
Something that will adjust from petite upwards to dh can wear also.
Comfy to wear hiking with baby on back at 1-2 years still

Or the Ergo embrace, it says it’s ideal for newborn up, but can I just wear with bigger baby/ toddler as well? I don’t think it allows back carries though.

I don’t need a sling to forward face.

Has anyone used the boba x?

Is there a sling library near you? If not there are online ones. Have a look at the manducca although I’m not sure if it fits your strap description.

Wilkinet - one size fits all and can carry front and back. It may look like an octopus to begin with, but honestly you soon get the hang of it.

We have this :) I'm 8stone 10lbs and my little boy is 7.5 months and a little chunk, find it much better to carry him in this than our old carrier, tends to put his weight more through my shoulders than my back which I find a lot easier and can carry him for longer xx

I had the ergo original and found that the waistband always dug in with front carry but better on the back carry. With the second I bought a girasol mysol which I use with the buckle waist band. Still carry dd at 21 months and it's comfortable. Dh can wear it but it's a bit girly colour so he tends to wear the ergo

I agree with pp re sling library.

A Connecta (now called Integra) would suit you. It has very little padding and you can get ‘petite’ versions which have slightly shorter shoulder straps.

It crosses over at the back too.

I found the padded straps of other brands impossible on my narrow shoulders. Although I did like the Tula once they were older (I mean like proper toddler carrier size)

Have a look on Facebook groups as you can get a decent Connecta for relatively cheap 2nd hand.

Try a manduca. I am short and found it more comfortable than an ergo. Dp who is 5'10 used it too and it was fine.

Same experience here - try a Connecta I also found Wompats worked for narrow shoulders.

Thank you, I will look into the connecta/integra as that sounds just the ticket.
It’s a pain buying multiple but we can’t use the pram in lots of places here so a decent sling is a must. Dh doesn’t mind the ergo so he can use that otherwise

I don’t think we have sling meets here, and if we do they are off due to Covid. But I will see if there’s an online remote one maybe

After giving up on a soft carrier I bought an Ergo baby adapt. I’m small and have sloping shoulders so the flexibility to cross the straps on the adapt is perfect for me.

I’ve worn it for long ish walks (6 miles maybe) until DD was 2.

OP I’m pretty sure that some sling libraries do postal loans (Sheffield Slng Library does, from memory). So you could try that way. Also, if you can manage it, a meh dai works better for narrow shoulders as you can tie it in various ways that keep it higher on your shoulders, and also the straps often come in grippier materials, like cord or wrap material.
