Anybody else not have DS friend round often?

Ok, my son is 7, he has loads of hobbies, infact he only has one night a week free and I used to work that day so he was at grandma's. I've left work now. Lots of his friends also do lots of out of school activities and he does see his special friend at cubs on a Tuesday night.

I always make sure he sees at least 1 of his friends in the school holidays but during term time whole terms can pass and I only have his friend round once.

Anyone else only have friends round occasionally or am I being mean?

To be honest most of his friends only have friends round occasionally, but probably more than I do. And he doesn't get invited round others so much as everyone knows he does activities every night (they say to me can xxx come and play in the holidays as I know he is busy on the evenings).

My little lad doesn't seem bothered but I feel guilty when others go off to play together.

The one night we do have free, his friend does football practise.

Please make me feel better!!

I don't see how he'd have time to have friends round LOL. TBH if he sees them after school most days anyway, it doesn't matter what building it's in.

don't worry - we hardly ever have anyone round - ds does stuff after school on 3 afternoons and he also likes his own company to do his own stuff !

My DSs don't have many friends around either. When they do they all just seem to watch TV anyway.

After school they are usually really tired and grumpy. I find they can be mean to their friends and I have to closely supervise them.

It seems easier just to let them come home and chill out. I think there's a lot of pressure to have friends to play after school.

We don't have people round that much after school. Do too many after school activities so the nights that we don't, I prefer to just chill out with the boys and I think it's good for them too.

As long as he's happy and you are happy, go with it! My kids always seem to have friends round or be going to other kids' houses - probably too often TBH and its exhausting, what with the pick-ups and the drop offs. Good for you, I say

Thanks everyone.

He doesn't see his school friends at the out of school activities he does (apart from cubs) as I chose them for him to make new friends.

I feel a bit better now thanks

I just love having the one evening we have free to spend just chilling out with them.
