what does you toddler have for lunch?

Just that really.....since WFH I've been finding having to cook two proper meals (for lunch and dinner) a bit of a drag - I am running out of new things to try/rotate. So was wondering what everyone else gives theirs for lunch. My mates seem to give theirs sandwiches and raw veg, but I've been brought up on two warm meals a day. Would be great to hear what everyone does

I have 18 month old twins. We do sandwich lunch a couple of times a week. Otherwise we do scrambled or poached eggs on toast, quesadillas, beans on toast, gnocchi with either pesto or puréed veg or mini pizzas.

I try and keep lunch as an easier meal and then do a main family meal for dinner.

A quarter of a breadstick, a lick of cucumber and a squeezy yoghurt if I'm lucky Grin

My toddler has sandwiches quite often for lunch with carrot sticks, those veg stick crisps, fruit but also beans on toast, scrambled eggs, maybe the odd pasta lunch. Quesadillas also good. Full cooked tea for us all in the evening.

I do warm meal at lunchtime and sandwiches/something on toast at tea. I feel like it suits their energy levels best & gives them nice warm full tummy for a nap.

I tend to share lunch with my 20 month old - she eats like a sparrow at lunch, so I mostly do whatever I want to eat! Usually omelette, quiche, falafel or fish fingers with veg, or soup with bread and butter. She does get sandwiches quite a lot though!

thanks for all these ideas!

might have to knock the two warm meals a day on the head - it just takes such a long time especially with both of us working FT. And i really lack imagination ;-)

it might also make us a bit more enthusiastic about cooking our main meals. as it is I just feel like we are on a never-ending cooking marathon. focusing on making something nice once a day sounds like a better idea.

Lunch: sandwiches, egg based meals incl. baked eggs, beans on toast, pesto pasta with frozen veg, fish fingers & chips & peas, pizza and veg, tuna mayo pasta, fried/roasted salmon, eggy bread, mild chickpea &spinach curry (can be done quickly of using tinned chickpeas. Add lentils for extra hidden veg).

Quick for lunch and a more complex meal in the evening. There’s nothing beneficial nutrition wise about having two hot meals.

I find lunch a bit of a non meal tbh and I have an 18month old, I'm happier to do cold lunches like sandwiches when it's warmer but in winter I'll do her more of a warm lunch - generally she will eat:
Cheese on toast or add some passata and mixed herbs and it's pizza grill Grin
Whole meal wrap with tuna
Boiled egg and soldiers
Pasta (usually leftover from dinner night before)
Omelette
Crackers
Marmite rice cakes with cheese spread
Occasional sausage roll
Hummus and cracker bread
Fruit salad
Yoghurt
Rice pudding
Apple and peanut butter

Hope some of this helps although think many of us are doing pretty much the same and sticking to bread eggs and cheesy type meals Smile

Sandwiches, egg/beans on toast, omelettes, variety plate (eg hummus/breadsticks/cheese/crackers/fruit/veg bits), sometimes jacket potatoes or pasta pesto.

Soup, or a frittata are our favourites for lunch. Other options are sandwich, cheese toastie, scrambled egg. She isn't really one for raw veg, she'll eat tomatoes but that's it.

Just turned two year old. I usually just make whatever I fancy as he often rejects it anyway 🙄 Sometimes it’s sandwiches, bagels, beans on toast, eggs, pasta, last nights leftovers, cous cous etc.

I have 1 very fussy eater and one not fussy but small appetite. For lunch they have-

Sandwiches - cheese or cream cheese for fussy, ham or cheese for not fussy.

Carrot and or cucumber sticks

Scrambled eggs and toast

Eggs bread

Breadsticks

Fruit

Yoghurt

Pom bears

Mini pizzas

Cocktail sausages

I’d like to be more inventive but tbh I’m lucky if they even eat a decent amount of these things!
