What does your 2 year old eat each day?

I feel like I’m stuck in a rut with planning meals, and DS seems to be going through a growth spurt and eating everything in sight, so ideas for meals and snacks would be really helpful. He’s not fussy at all and eats a lot of pasta, fish, cous cous and fruit, but would love some more ideas.

Mine eats nearly everything at 3.2

Cottage pie, chicken roast dinner, mild curries and stir fries. Fish in any form. Broccoli

Protein is important to try and fill them when growing.

Whatever we eat pretty much.

Last night it was roast beef with all the trimmings, today it is leftover beef made into cottage pie.

They really like chicken legs/thighs with chips/potato wedges and coleslaw.
Spaghetti bolognese and lasagne always go down well
Sticky honey and soy salmon with rice and green veg
Sweet and sour chicken with rice
Sausage mash and peas
Cauliflower cheese
Baked potatoes
Chilli con carne
Meatballs (Both Swedish and Italian style)
Boiled egg and chips
Fish pie

Following this thrrad as I need some inspiration. My 2 year old dd has gone from eating everything we eat to being so fussy and just end up giving her something I know she likes ie fish fingers and chips, pizza or pasta which Im sure shes getting bored of now

I can't wait to have this problem again! My dd went from eating everything in large quantities to literally just yoghurt!! Driving me insane! 😣

She has on her plate whatever we eat, but I try to keep in mind she needs more calorie density than us for her growth.
She is very keen on meat and potatoes, last and rice, veg is hit and miss but loves broccoli sweet corn and cucumber.

Spanish omelette is a nice different lunch.
Cottage pie topped with cheesey potato rosti is a favourite tea. She likes thick stodgy soups like tomato and lentil.
Ploughmans picky plates with pitta bread, Apple and cheese are good if she's having a fussy day.
I introduce new foods when she's hungrier to try to give her more chance of tucking in.

Thanks everyone there’s some really good ideas here. What do you offer for snacks? I find fruit doesn’t fill him up enough and keep resorting to oat bars but they’re pretty pricey!

You can make cheesejacks (savoury flapjack) as a cheaper alternative to oat bars. Oats, cheese, an egg, melted butter and chopped rosemary mixed together and baked. We used to have them as kids and now DS is a fan too.

What do you eat?

Yesterday mine had beans and breadsticks (not a fan of toast), a banana and milk for breakfast; then two snacks and lunch at nursery, then several slices of watermelon and some crackers at home, plus chicken and white bean chilli with toppings (some tortilla chips, sour cream, cheddar, sliced peppers, tomato, etc.).

For breakfast we normally do cereal/porridge/beans/boiled or scrambled egg with fruit and milk.

Lunch, if he's home, is sandwiches, picnic things (like sausage rolls or scotch eggs), or quiche with salad things.

Snacks tend to be fruit, veg (cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers), crackers, cocktail sausages, sometimes frozen peas (both of mine love these).

Dinner is whatever we eat: last night and tonight we are having chicken chilli (I scoop out their servings before I add the chillies at the end), night before it was roasted chicken thighs in wraps with hummus, sour cream and veg, tomorrow we are having a BBQ so sausages, potato salad, sweet corn, probably some sort of fruit like sliced watermelon.
