Does your 5yo talk literally all the time?

Is it just mine or is it a phase/common thing? My dsc starts talking as soon as they wake up and only literally stops to eat and sleep. Inc talking over us.

Yes. It is relentless. Sometimes very funny... but exhausting

MarcelineMissouri · 06/09/2020 20:49

Yes he does!! And usually just a constant stream of the most random questions eg mummy, what would happen if our house got squashed like a pancake and then I turned into a dinosaur?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 06/09/2020 20:49

My 7yo hasn't stopped talking since 2014. She even talks in her sleep. It's a constant stream of consciousness.

Yep. All of my girls have been / are the same

stepmumSW5 · 06/09/2020 20:52

Most of the time I find it entertaining but sometimes I just want a bit of quiet. It's literally from 6am to 8pm. Nonstop.

I hat to tell you, but my 10yo does the same - I often joke she said her first word at 9 months and hasn't stopped since.. even in her sleep she blabbers on

Flimflamfloogety · 06/09/2020 20:54

It's not just you. My 5yo doesn't stop from the time he wakes up, until he goes to sleep. When he runs out of actual words, he starts with the gibberish... It's exhausting.

Someone please tell me it stops sometime soon. If not, send wine!

stepmumSW5 · 06/09/2020 20:56

@Flimflamfloogety I think we should just go for the wine

Yes, he went to bed just after seven, hes now in the living room and won’t be quiet, its like living with a large insane parrot. Hopefully he will be in bed and asleep soon, its the only time hes quiet.

BabloHoney · 06/09/2020 21:04

@MarcelineMissouri laughing so much at your post. My just turned 6 year old is exactly the same “mummy, what would happen if I was a giant and you were tiny, would you live in my pocket or would you run away into the garden? Can I have a biscuit? What do you like best, a strawberry or an owl? Do sharks like spaghetti and cheese? What costs the most money, a gold car or a a gold dinosaur” Etc etc etc...

SadSack39 · 06/09/2020 21:10

Oh god it gets worse? Mine is not even 4 yet and its constant.. mummy, whats this, what are you doing, why are you doing that..today he found a tampon and i had about 25 questions i really didnt know how to answer .. im ashamed to say i get to the point in the evening when i call 'quiet time' and nobody can speak and.. its heaven

stepmumSW5 · 06/09/2020 21:18

@SadSack39 that would never work here, dsc would talk for 4 5min to convince us that quiet time is a crap idea 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes.

tempnamechange98765 · 11/09/2020 21:34

Haha! My DS is 5 at the end of the year, and he is literally like a motor that starts up in the morning and doesn't stop when he goes to sleep. He doesn't talk all through screens mind, but generally yep, he talks all day!

Imonlydoingwhatican · 11/09/2020 21:38

My 19 yr old still does (asd)
11 yr old still interrupts (despite constantly being told to stop)

3 yr old is at the constant mum stage. I need those ear plugs i promised myself years ago

FiveGoMadInDorset · 11/09/2020 21:40

My 12 year old is still going strong

BertieBotts · 11/09/2020 21:41

Yes, some of them just do this!

DS1 used to be like it, he is 11 now. He can still monologue about the most random things but he has discovered the internet and so will shut up for a while when he's engaged in something like that.
