What should I put on my baby’s sore skin?

My baby has very sensitive skin on his face. Where he is dribbling so much he has two large, round red marks that look very sore on each of his cheeks. They constantly come back in the same place. I’ve spoken to my doctor and he’s confirmed that’s what it is. I have tried an over the counter cream, Child’s farm cream and also a fragrance free, natural ointment (balmond’s baby balm) however nothing helps. The ointment seems to have made it a bit more inflamed and it looks sore. I’ve gone back to using the over the counter stuff today. He wouldn’t prescribe anything. Is there anything you could suggest I use before I trial through them all (something I can’t afford to do right now!)

How old is baby? I used standard aveeno on DS when he had drool rash at about 9 months and it cleared it up very quickly.

Vaseline makes an excellent barrier cream as it stays put well which is what you need for hours of drooling. It's not just heading the sore you want but also prevent the drool aggravating it in the first place.

I just used my lanolin nipple tube - still buy and use it as lip-balm!

Stuff stays put, has nothing else in it (DS2 has a bad reaction to a preservative - methylsomethingorotherzolinone), works like a charm.

Baby aveeno is good. I also use Drapolene for nappy rash, but might work on sore chins. I feel like its not that well known but its an antiseptic nappy rash cream that ive found has worked really well.

I think Sudocrem clears a lot up especially if it looks angry. I agree with Aveenoo too. Poor wee man, I hope it clears up quickly

my dd was incredibly sensitive when she was little and i found coconut oil really helpful. a big tub lasts ages, its soothing and gives a layer of emulsion which works as a barrier.
it helped when even eczema creams etc didnt.

Thanks all. He’s 5 months old. I have bepanthen and sudocrem here so I will try. I have aveeno but it’s moisturising lotion - is a lotion okay? I actually found coconut oil amazing for my tattoos so I’m not sure why I didn’t think of that - thanks for the tip! The baby balm is also a barrier but it seems to have made it worse overnight. He doesn’t seem bothered by it but it’s starting to look a bit angrier and I don’t want it getting infected. Really appreciate all the advice!
